For Paper 2, please write an essay of between 1200-1600 words examining the way two different news organizations have covered and are covering the 2020 Presidential Campaign. At least one of the publications should be based in the United States. The other can be based in the US or in another country. The publications you choose can be newspapers, broadcasters or other print/online sources of news.

One of the themes of this class is that media outlets often cover the same event from entirely different perspectives. Thats true of publications within a country: those with a partisan slant covering stories with a partisan angle; those who serve different demographics (including different races, religions or nations of origin); and those who serve readers in a specific region of the country.

Your essay should examine what is similar and different about the election coverage between your chosen outlets, and discuss possible reasons for these differences. In writing about these differences, please explain what you have concluded are the best practices for political coverage to fulfill the role of the press in a democracy, and explain the basis for your conclusions. Your essay should provide examples from and citations of articles to illustrate your points.

In your essay, please discuss the following:

How is the coverage between outlets similar and how is it different?
What, if anything, did the editors and reporters seem to have learned from how the press covered previous elections?
How does the news sources election coverage reflect or represent considerations such as:
the economic, health and political needs of the people served by the news outlet
the different regional or national press cultures, laws, economic considerations, or political perspectives
the political perspective of the owners or editors
economic or political pressures
What are the best practices for covering elections for news organizations to fulfill their role in a democracy?

Please make sure to incorporate all elements of the prompt into a cohesive essay. Remember that you need to include a strong intro, thesis, evidence, analysis, conclusion, and citations. As always, proper grammar, diction, and sentence structure along with a mature, clear writing style will count towards your grade.

The Cold War Debates about America’s Role in the World Due Nov 8 by 11:59pm Points 100 Submitting an external tool

For the second document analysis assignment you will compare, analyze, and interpret a debate related to the Cold War.

Henry R. Luce, “The American Century” (1941), in Foner, Voices of Freedom, 196-199.
Henry A. Wallace, “The Century of the Common Man” (1942), in Foner, Voices of Freedom, 199-201.

These two documents relate to a common theme of the Cold War: America’s role in the world. They address opposing views of the global role of the United States following World War II.

Your task is to compare and contrast the sources, and formulate your own interpretation of the issues presented in the debate or disagreement between the authors of the sources. You do not necessarily have to agree or disagree with one side or the either. A very good paper, for instance, will formulate an interpretation that shows how these debates fit into the broader global political context of the changing role of the United States during the Cold War and its relation to Soviet Communism.

For the paper it is absolutely imperative that you cite your sources using one of the acceptable academic citation styles (MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.), and that the citations are correct. If you fail to submit a paper with citations you will fail the assignment. You must cite your sources.

Your paper must be submitted to Turnitin. There is a link to upload your paper on this page.

The paper must include the following:

    A descriptive title.
A thesis statement and an argument.  Do not simply summarize or describe the sources.  Provide an analysis of the meaning and significance of the texts.  In other words, form an interpretation of the texts.
Provide evidence from the text to support your thesis statement. The evidence must come from the text itself.
Use citations with a works cited page at the end of your paper.
750-1250 words (a minimum of 3 full pages, roughly, 3-5 pages).
    10 or 12-point readable font, double-spaced, with 1 margins
Submit your paper on Canvas using the Turnitin link. You will only be able to submit your paper once. You must submit the file in a .doc, .docx, or .pdf file format, but not in a .pages format.

Crocs Case Introduction

Since its inception in 2002, Crocs (NASDAQ: CROX) has sold

more than 300 million pairs of shoes in more

than 90 countries around the world. The company considers itself a world leader in innovative casual. By

2012, the trendy shoe brand was at the height of popularity (Max, 2013). The company was pursuing an

aggr

essive retailing strategy, offering over 300 different designs at nearly 600 retail stores worldwide,

with 315 normal stores, 157 outlet stores, and 122 kiosks. From this perspective

,

things looked brig

ht for

this quirky, proprietary

footwear manufacturer.

Then in 2013, the company’s performance began to publicly unravel.

Although the company saw a rise

of 11.2% in sales revenue, it had also grown its store count by almost 20%. A closer look at the

company’s financials revealed that annual comparable

store sales actually fell in the Americas by 8.3%

and in Japan by 16.3

%

. Internet sales were also lackluster, falling 4.8% year

over

year (Green, 2013).

By

the s

ummer of 2018, C

roc

s had just 398 locations. Moreover, fans were stunned to hear Crocs announce

that the company was closing its last manufacturing facility. According to Footwearnews.com (2017),

“Crocs challenges undoubtedly come at a time when retail, in general, is under tremendous pressures

and store closures, layoffs and even bankruptcy have be

come par for the course.”

It hasn’t been al

l bad news for Crocs management: I

ts efforts over the past several years to turn around

consumer interest in its quirky lightweight clogs may finally be working. After three years of declining

sales revenue and

net losses to cash flows, the company saw its first profitable quarter in 2018

(Manarriz, 2018). It remains unclear if management can continue to improve Croc

s

’s performance given

the challenging retailing environment the footwear industry faces. Your case

analysis will look to suggest

important considerations of Croc

s

’s situation and recommend at least one course of action to improve

the company’s global competitiveness.

As you approach this first strategic case analysis of this course, keep these basic q

uestions in mind as

you research Crocs’

s

situation:

Why has Croc

s

’s performance always been inconsistent?

How important are global markets to the firm?

How well has Crocs managed its product line?

What is changing about the global footwear industry?

What

is t

he sustainability of Crocs’

s

capabilities in the industry?
