Communicating Classroom Expectations and Limits

Good parenting and good teaching have something in common. They both aim for loving our children well. Is that a walk in the park all the time? Of course not. If it were, we wouldnt need courses like this to help us through. The questions you now need to ask yourself are:

What type of parent or teacher would you want to be?
How would you best communicate?
How would you discipline?

Part A-Identify a television show or movie for EACH of the following below :

one that depicts an authoritarian style of parenting
one that depicts an authoritative style of parenting
one that depicts a permissive style of parenting
Explain the effect that EACH of the three styles has on the children in the show.

Part B

Select one (1) of the communication topics from (effective communication, reflective listening, or problem solving) Create a parent-friendly flyer describing at least two (2) ways that parents might use your selected communication strategy with young children.

Part C

For the scenario below, determine which type of related consequence is most appropriate. Provide two (2) supporting facts to justify your answer, citing your sources.

Scenario: Basilo was pretending to cook dinner in the house area when Salena grabbed a plate away from him and said, Boys dont cook. Basilo replied, Yes, they do. My daddy cooks! as he grabbed onto the plate. The children continued their tug-of-war until you intervened.

Guz v. Bechtel National Inc.

Please read the case, Guz v. Bechtel National Inc. on page 99-100 and discuss the following questions:

1. Based on Guz, can the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing apply to any conditions not actually stated in a contract? In other words, can the covenant apply to anything beyond that which is actually stated in an employment contract? If not, is there no implied covenant as long as someone is at-will without a contract? (1 page, double-spaced)

2. Explain the distinction between the courts discussion of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing and the possibility of an implied contract term. (1 page, double-spaced)

3. How might an employer create an implied-in-fact term and how could a failure to follow such policies when terminating an employee create a breach of the contract? (1 page, double-spaced)

Objective writing

** My training topic is cultural sensitivity and diversity training.

For this assignment:

Give a brief overview of your training plan topic and background. Remember you can create a fictitious company and training. Try to make this project work for you!
Create at least one lower-order and one higher-order learning objective. You will use these Learning Objectives as part of your Final Project. These objectives will be the foundation on which you will build your plan. As you design it, you might add more objectives (particularly as you dive into the task analysis next week and pick the particular knowledge and skills needed by the trainees).
Your objectives should be actioned-based and use the action verbs proposed in Bloom’s Taxonomy.  For example, this week in this course you have two objectives:
Develop specific and measurable objectives as a result of a needs assessment.
Create objectives based upon Blooms Taxonomy relevant to a training plan to satisfy a need within an organization.
Avoid generic words and phrases such as “learn,” “understand,” and “know.” Instead, focus on how you will measure and prove that your trainees have mastered the content.
