labor mobility

The Saudi Arabian economy has developed with the use of large numbers of expatriate workers. In a critical essay, indicate the benefits and risks associated with the dependence on large numbers of expatriate workers. Should Saudi Arabia seek to include or exclude labor mobility in future regional free trade agreements? Why or why not? What implications does the Saudi Vision 2030 have on labor mobility?

Law discussion post

Depending on if a defendant is charged, you learned that it could be a violation of the 5th or 6th amendment if law enforcement places an undercover officer or informant in a position to overhear a statement.  Answer the following questions:

Why do you think it matters about incrimination if a person is formally charged or not? Cite any relevant case law or statutes or amendments, if necessary.
Do you think if a cell mate comes forward to law enforcement, after hearing the suspect make an admission and without any involvement by law enforcement, the statement would be admissible or inadmissible? Why or why not?

Campaign Commercials

In this trip, we will all become political campaign analysts. Log into the internet address http://livingroomcandidate.org, a campaign ad playlist website called the ‘The Living Room Candidate.’ During this trip, you will select two commercials, analyze them and present your analysis to the class. POST a LIVE LINK to each of the commercials in your assignment so we can see the commercials you have chosen.

1. Choose one campaign year and analyze an ad from a Republican and a Democratic candidate. Everyone must choose a different ads. Post your campaign year and ad names (including the candidate’s last name) in the subjectline of the post.

In your post, you will be expected to discuss the following:

1. How would you categorize each ad? (for example, biographical, issue-oriented, value-laden, or negative). The website characterizes the ads.

2. Describe the language and tone of the ad(s). Is the narrator a male, female, or the candidate? How do language and tone shape the overall message?

3. How do words, images, color, music, camera angles, lighting, people, and symbols contribute to the message of the ad(s)? Do you think they are effective?

4. Do you see any trendsin language, in style, in images/symbols, in peoplein these ads? Can you find any common links between them?

5. How do the candidates’ ads attract or appeal to their audiences? Which voting audience are they intended to reach (retired voters, new voters, working voters, swing voters)?

6. How did the election turn out? This information is provided on the website.

7. Did the ads selected influence you? How would you change the ads to make them more effective? Read your classmates’ posts and comment.

Network Discussion Assignment

Write a 2-3 page paper that investigates a popular culture event or trend from a networked perspective. Try to think beyond COVID, and instead focus on something that interests you more personally. Try to identify 1) what group or person started the event, 2) how did it spread (by what medium or communication technology), 3) who was the main audience. Then, explain how this connects to any of the network theories we talked about this semester.
