Learning Outcomes for Global Diversity
LO 1: Knowledge of Global Diversity Students demonstrate knowledge of multiple worldviews and experiences, either within a nation (other than the U.S.) or among nations, with attention to social and cultural contexts.
LO 2: Application of Global Perspectives Students use knowledge of global perspectives for analysis, interpretation or problem solving.

Introduction (1-2 paragraphs)
      Focus on explaining the topic.
Body (minimum of 3 paragraphs but use as many as necessary … several short paragraphs are better than 1-2 overly long paragraphs)
Write your body before your write your introduction and conclusion.

Address an issue from the perspective of two or more nations. You will need to demonstrate that you understand multiple world views and can discuss how the social and cultural contexts of nations affect their perspectives and experiences related to the topic. You will need to use that understanding of multiple world perspectives to analyze the issue.
Examine all aspects of the topic. Show your knowledge and grasp of the material you have read.
Discuss the differing opinions of the topic as reflected in the research.
Discuss any issues or problems.
  Did you have enough information?
  Did the research raise issues you hadn’t considered?
  Did the research contain confusing, incomplete or contradictory information?

Explain how your research influenced your thinking.
    If your thinking has changed, what changed it?
If your thinking has not changed, how did what you learned support your original opinion?
If you’re not sure about your opinion, what information might you need to form an opinion?

Conclusion (generally 1 paragraph)
The conclusion rounds off the essay.
Refer back to your main ideas or points and reiterate your answer to the question.
NEVER introduce new information in your conclusion.
The conclusion moves from specific to general.

BEFORE YOU WRITE:
Use the conflict assessment tools in the textbook chapter to identify strengths, challenges and weaknesses in your usual styles of managing conflict. Identify, observe and self-monitor interactions that involve the expressed disagreement between interdependent parties.
DRAFTING THE ESSAY:
In your one-page essay, address the following:
    Which conflict styles seemed to produce the most satisfying outcomes? In what situations?
    Describe the pros and cons of the style you most commonly use (use it as an example).
    What is a conflict ritual and why do they develop?
    If someone wants to make changes in the way they manage interpersonal conflict, how could they go about making them?
Conflict:

** Remember, while the prompt asks you to examine your own conflict experiences and management, the informative ESSAY must be structured to share information about what conflict is and how it can be effectively managed in interpersonal relationships; use examples and experiences from your own life and consideration of the prompt to support the main ideas you are discussing. (Do not make this a list of responses to the prompt questions; keep to a more formal, academic style — not a personal journal style.)
