This course provides advanced students studying international relations an opportunity to explore in-depth a topic of their own choosing. The seminar is devoted principally to researching and writing a major research paper (15-25 pages) on that topic. Students will also discuss their proposals and final papers in class presentations. Students will develop their skills as independent researchers, practice the discipline needed to complete a major research project, present their research, and critically analyze their own work and that of others. The in-person online-classroom setting will occupy only a portion of the time spent on the course. This is not a lecture course.  Students will spend considerable time outside of class conducting research, writing, and consulting individually with the instructor about their projects.
