Introduction
The term nursing has its usage borrowed from medieval periods. The term is very common in many countries in the world today. Its first time use is identified in the Biblical story of St. Paul Church. It is said that Paul would send men to preach and they would be accompanied by a nurse. It is most notable use in the recent times is in America and Canada (White & Truax 2007).
Meaning of nursing
In the mentioned Countries the term nursing means a person who helps people who are either sickly or injured to recover. The nursing could be exercised in hospitals or at war zones whereby the injured are attended to by nurses. The term is very popular in many countries nowadays. In some instances the term refers to the act of taking care without necessarily having an existence of a profession (White & Truax 2007).
In the most applicable definition nursing refers to a profession which is concerned with health care. It therefore means that nursing has its focus on the safeguarding the health of sick individuals in the family or elsewhere. The greatest distinction which can be drawn between nurses and other care providers is because their training on patient care is very distinct (Henderson & Vesperi 1995).
Nursing Values
Nursing just like any other profession has numerous values that ought to be considered. In assessing the different values it is worth noting that nursing has many values. A nurse is required to exercise compassion in dealing with patients. The feeling entails a great concern on the lives of the people he or she is handling. This personal value is because patients are not in the health care out of their free will. The reason for this requirement is that patients heal faster whenever they get the feeling someone is concerned (White & Truax 2007).
Secondly a nurse is supposed to be empathetic. This entails the ability to share the feelings that patients are experiencing. It follows that a nurse is supposed to keep a constant good communication with the patient to understand their feelings. The point of becoming judgmental is ruled out by a continued effort to listen to the patients. The rationale for being emphatic is that patients feel understood and that helps in improving their state of mind in regards to the sickness. A nurse by being empathetic respects the values and feelings of the patient (Mcsherry Mcsherry & Watson 2012).
Thirdly a nurse is supposed to be selfless. This means a sense of devotion which makes whereby other people become more important than the nurses does. This value makes a nurse view a patient to be of grave importance. It is through selfless acts that patients lives can be saved. Without selfless tendencies nurses will care about themselves instead of the patients (White & Truax 2007).
Fourth a nurse is supposed to portray a sense of self-aware. Some people call it emotional intelligence. A nurse ought to understand the way he or she thinks and acts since it will assist in making sure that situations are dealt with basing on that understanding. Situations whereby the nurse may get affected need to be understood so that they can be handled by a nurse who is not adversely affected. (Henderson & Vesperi 1995).

Choose any two of the philosophers that we read in Unit 2 (John Locke or David Hume).  Recap each philosophers main view about consciousness/the self/personal identity. Explain at least one difference between the two philosophers views and state which view you prefer. Then, offer an argument (i.e., evidence) against the view that you reject.

If you need to re-familiarize yourself with the central issues on personal identity, I suggest that you review the following (20-minute) podcast: The Self and Personal Identity. Additional information regarding personal identity can also be found here: http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/identity-personal/

Start with making a careful summary of two of the philosophers we read in Unit 2. What were their main concepts and definitions, what were their distinctions? How did they imagine that the self was different from the brain or different from the mind? Restate their theory and include “direct quotes”, specific references from their work.
Explain carefully how these views compare and contrast. Be sure to identify and explain at least one difference between the philosophers’ views. How do they define a key concept or make a major distinction differently?

State which view you prefer.

Offer an argument against the view that you reject.

What, if any, is the relationship between morality and happiness?

Paper Topic: What, if any, is the relationship between morality and happiness?

you may develop and present your own view on the topic. You must present at least one possible objection to whichever view you initially present, and then you must respond to the objection on behalf of the initial view. At the very least, the response to the objection should be your original work.
