Data Science Project Proposal

Building a DATA SCIENCE PROJECT PROPOSAL
(10 points)
Your team represents a data science consultancy (could be an internal
group or an external consulting group) for a large retailer that sells
products both in a physical store as well as via the internet (there are
any number of examples: Target, Kohls, Walmart.)
First, pick a specific retailer for your team.
CONSULT APPENDICES A and B IN THE PROVOST/FAWCETT
BOOK BEFORE BUILDING YOUR POWERPOINT. You are going to
make a proposal in the form of a powerpoint presentation to
senior management, making a PITCH for a data science project.
Remember, you are MAKING the pitch, not EVALUATING a
the proposal, as outlined in Appendix A. However Appendix A, can be
inverted to help you build the proposal. Address all relevant
concerns: what is the purpose of the data science project (e.g.,
predict loyalty card churn), what data to be used, cost,
benefit???
ALSO, watch the INFORMS VIDEO posted on RISK ASSESSMENT
for AI projects. The video contains 10 technical factors and 10
environmental factors that must be addressed in your pitch.
In summary, your powerpoint will be evaluated on 3 factors: a)
inclusion of relevant ideas from appendices A and B in the
Provost-Fawcett book b) inclusion of relevant ideas from the
RISK ASSESSMENT video (10 technical and 10 environmental
factors) c) neatness and flow of the presentation.
SUBMIT a single PowerPoint presentation for this assignment (limit 20
slides). Please place the names of all CONTRIBUTING TEAM members
at the top of the PPT. Canvas accepts multiple submissions from a
team and if you are working alone (not recommended, however) you
can individually upload your answer to this assignment.

Fried Green Tomatoes

You will watch a movie (approved by me) about an older adult (or older adults) and apply at least 3 sociological theories/concepts and/or life course concepts to the plot and character(s) of the movie.

This paper must include a short description of the movie and character(s) and each concept must be clearly described, cited, and its relevance to the movie explained with examples from the movie.

The majority of your paper should describe the concepts you have learned from this course. I do not want it to be one long summary of the movie.

This assignment should be written in APA with at least 4-5 pages, double-spaced, using 12-point font. Please submit an electronic copy of your paper to Blackboard via THIS online portal.

You will be tasked with exploring different scenarios of hardship and creating a narrative that will display what life might look like through the eyes of hardship.

Your character is a teenager in high school who is growing up below the poverty line. Their father cant work because of a disability and their mother is struggling to support a family of four on her job at a hotel. Neither parent has been to college. The family has almost been evicted twice from their home because they fell behind on rent payments. Anything your character buys has to come from money they earn. They also feel the pressure of looking after their younger sibling.
using this scenario write about how creating a narrative that will display what life might look like through the eyes of hardship. You can choose between multiple mediums for what form the narrative can be in.
