Part 1:
Discuss the political culture of Texas. If you had to explain it to someone who knew nothing about government, how would you describe it? Do you accept what Professor Elazar has identified as the dominant political culture in Texas? Then, apply TXs political culture to the issues of race relations and government regulation of the economy, what will likely happen to these issues?

Part 2:
Provide an understanding of the relationship between the national and state governments. Explain which powers are held by the national government, which powers are reserved to the states, and those powers shared by both the national and state governments. Be sure to include an understanding of the national supremacy clause contained in Article VI of the U.S. Constitution.

For this paper, you are to make an argument about the media coverage of Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest. Specifically, how do you think the media should have covered the protest? Some media pundits praised Kaepernick’s bravery and some called Kaepernick a hero, while other media outlets disparaged the protest and called for his removal from the National Football League. Rather than telling me whether you are for or against Kaepernick’s protest, tell me how you think the media should have covered the protest. What do you think would have changed, if anything changed at all, if the media covered the protest the way you wish they would have? Lastly, how has media coverage of protests in sport evolved or changed since Kaepernick started protesting publicly in 2016? In other words, it’s been nearly 5 years since Kaepernick’s protest started, what has changed in media coverage of athlete protest since then?
