Religious Discrimination and Racial Harassment:What Ever Happened to MarShawn DeMur? Instructions: Please open the attachment and read the SHRM case study. Respond to the five (5) questions identified below (not those in the attached case study but the ones designed for our HRMN 408 class outlined in these instructions). Be specific in your responses and each response should include at least two classroom resources. Do not combine the discussion questions as the use of the outline will help you organize your research and comments and ensure you do not miss any questions that must be addressed. Your responses to each question must be in narrative format not bullets. Action: Respond to all five questions below. Utilize the resources from the class and make sure to have appropriate sources to support your responses. Answer each of the questions in narrative form (not bullet points). Question 1 – Relevant FactsWhat are the relevant facts and specific law that support Maalick’s contention that he was not promoted due to religious discrimination? Be specific. Question 2 – Religious AccommodationAre there any facts to support the contention that Maalick was not given accommodations due to his religious beliefs? Be specific.Question 3 – HR Director’s Actionsa.Characterize the actions of the HR director in response to the overall situation between Maalick, the supervisor and coworkers. Be specific.b.Prevention and Proactive Actions by HR Director. What could the HR Director have done to prevent this situation and what more could she do to ensure that this type of situation would not occur in the future? Be specific.Question 4 – Acts of Religious and Racial Harassment What were the actions of the supervisor and coworkers that could be considered as religious and racial harassment? Discuss the two harassment issues separately. (Define and explain with specifics)Question 5 – Clive Jenkin’s BehaviorWas Clive Jenkin’s behavior in direct violation of Treton’s EEO and discrimination policies? Why or why not? Be specific. Formatting directions for this assignment #2Use the bold headings found in the outline above in your paper to denote the different questions.Paper must be in APA 7.0 edition style, narrative format (not in bullet points nor PowerPoint). Include a cover page which should have student name and title of your paper. Each of the five questions should have at least two classroom resources per question.Use the Case Study and Week 3 ResourcesInclude a reference section at the end of your paper with citations/references in APA 7.0 style format. Use a word-processing software and saved with a .doc, .docx, or .rtf extension. Do not submit in a pdf format.Note: Full Citation of Authority at end of entire paper. Start your weekly insight by taking this free online personality test: https://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test (Links to an external site.)The test is based off of the popular and longstanding Myers-Briggs Type Inventory. When you are finished, record your results and spend some time reading what the test has to say about your personality. Drink deep and process it, find points of agreement and disagreement with your results. After you’ve done that, you are to read and respond to this prompt:You are a manager at a local CVS and have experienced consecutive quarters of declining sales. You have been conducting a marketing analysis and are unable to determine a real cause (pretend this is pre-pandemic). Your current staffing contains:7 full-time employees (≤ 32 hours weekly)
12 part-time employees (≥ 20 hours weekly
Come up with a strategy for engaging your staff to address the problem. Start your post by listing your personality inventory results, then explain how you will engage your staff members to address the problem. You should then read and respond to at least two of your peers. One should be the same personality type as you, another should be a different personality type.Submissions should be between 200 – 400 words and include any sources for the information shared.

Objectives:  Be able to define alternation of generations, antheridium, archego

Objectives:
 Be able to define alternation of generations, antheridium, archegonium, sporophyte, sporangium, gametophyte
 Diagram the plant life cycle to show alternation of generations in Pteridophytes
 Recognize horsetails, ferns, and club mosses
 Identify and describe the function of sporophyte and gametophyte generation in ferns
 Distinguish and describe the functions of fern archegonia and antheridia
Phylum Pteridophyta: Horsetails
1. Use Google images to examine a living specimen of Equisetum. DRAW a full picture of the plant. LABEL the
nodes (places on stems where leaves arise/hollow) and internodes (regions on stem between nodes/solid). The
specimen may be highly branched –do not confuse branches with leaves. LABEL the small brown scale-like
leaves at the nodes. The leaves are small and often brown, but they do have vascular tissue.
ANSWER (1): Do horsetails have true leaves?
ANSWER (2): What structure of Equisetum will undergo photosynthesis?
ANSWER(3): What generation of the plant life cycle are you looking at? What is the ploidy (haploid or
diploid)?
Seedless, Vascularized Plants
2. DRAW the strobilus under the dissecting scope. Label the sporangiophores.
ANSWER(4): Where on the plant is the strobilus located? What do you expect to find within the strobilus?
Phylum Pteridophyta: Ferns
Use the following link to observe ferns: https://www.fs.fed.us/wildflowers/beauty/ferns/str…
1. Observe an entire sporophyte fern. Look at a leaf frond.
2. DRAW both sides of the frond, on the underside, LABEL sori.
3. The microscopic view of a sorus, and DRAW it. Each sorus is a cluster of sporangia. LABEL sorus, sporangia and
spores.
ANSWER(1): The sporangia is part of the sporophyte generation (diploid) and spores are the first cells of the
gametophyte generation (haploid). What process occurred in the sporangia to produce the spores?
4. At the bottom of the webpage, click the “Next: Fern Reproduction” link, and look at the heart-shaped fern
gametophyte. DRAW and LABEL the rhizoids, antheridia and archegonia.
ANSWER (2): What is the ploidy of the above stage of the Pteridophyte life cylce? _________________________
ANSWER (3): Is this part of the life cycle the most or least complex? Explain why.
ANSWER (4): What is the purpose of the antheridia?
ANSWER (5): What is the purpose of the archegonia?
ANSWER (6): Are the rhizoids true roots? Why or Why not?
5. Look at the drawing of the fern gametophyte with attached sporophyte on the webpage (under the gametophyte
photo). DRAW and LABEL gametophyte, primary (first) leaf of young sporophyte and primary root of young
sporophyte. With your labels, indicate whether the structure is haploid (n) or diploid (2n). As the sporophyte
continues to grow, the gametophyte will wither away.
ANSWER (7): What is the dominant generation in ferns? How do you know?
ANSWER (8): What is the advantage of the sporophyte growing from the gametophyte? Is this common for
members of Embryophyta?
ANSWER (9): Explain why all ferns are dependent on free water in order to complete their life cycles.
DRAW a Pteridophyte life cycle
Phylum Lycophyta: Club Mosses
1. Search for Lycopodium or Selaginella in Google images and choose a live plant to view. At the tip of the
upright stem, find the strobilus. Look closely at the strobilus. Notice that it is made up of tightly
aggregated leaves. The leaves of the strobilus produce spores within sporangium. The plant you are
looking at is the diploid sporophyte.
2. DRAW and LABEL: strobilus, true roots, stems and leaves and the rhizome to which the upright
stems are attached
Since the spores produced in the sporangium are haploid, what nuclear division must take place to make
spores?
