credible secondary data sources (CDC, CADPH, LADPH). Indicate what is known about incidence, prevalence,
and significance (societal/healthcare/productivity etc.) from the national, state, and SPA level.
A minimum of 3 secondary data sources

Public Health Problem
Infant mortality occurs when an infant dies in the first year of life. In the United States, 22,000 babies die before
their birthday each year; a rate of 5.8 deaths per 1,000 live births (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
[CDC], 2019). California’s infant mortality rate is lower than that of the national average (4.2 per 1,000 live
births), and Los Angeles County rates mirror that of California, with 4.4 deaths per 1,000 live births ( CDC,
2019, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health [LACDPH], 2017). In Palmdale, Service Planning Area
1 (SPA1) of LA County, infant mortality rates are disproportionately high at 6.8 deaths per 1,000 live births
(LACDPH, 2017).
Breastfeeding reduces infant mortality risk, with exclusively breastfed children 14 times less likely to die in the
first six months of life. Increasing breastfeeding rates worldwide could prevent over 800,000 deaths annually,
however, only 41% of babies are breastfed for the first six months (United Nations Children’s Fund [UNICEF],
2019). In the United States, 24.9% of mothers breastfeed for the first six months postpartum and in California,
rates drop to only 20.4% (CDC, 2019).
Breastfeeding is beneficial for the mother and the infant. Studies have shown that not breastfeeding increases
risk for childhood obesity, type 1 and 2 diabetes, and developmental delays. For the mother, breastfeeding
reduces risk for certain cancers, prevents excess weight gain, and is protective for type 2 diabetes (Stuebe,
2009). Low breastfeeding rates contributes $3 billion dollars in medical costs for the mother and child annually
(CDC, 2018).

Product review

Research a product or service from a company with which you are familiar, as well as the methods used to market that product or service. Many well-known companies have marketing plan information available online that you can reference by searching for “[Company Name] Marketing Plan”.

Write a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper in which you include the following:

Analyze the purpose, value, and components of an effective integrated marketing communications (IMC) plan.
Briefly introduce the company that you researched and its product(s) or service(s).
Describe the specific marketing communications tools that are currently included in the IMC.
Evaluate the effectiveness of those tools in meeting the objectives of the IMC and in reaching the targeted market segment(s).
Provide a brief industry analysis that includes emerging trends.
Propose additional marketing communication tools (or changes to existing tools) that the company should consider, and explain the potential opportunities for improving overall brand management that can be gained by implementing these tools.

Creating an informal report

At some point your career you might find yourself sitting on a committee or leading one. This would be an
important opportunity to flex your note taking skills and then showcase your ability to convert these notes into
official meeting minutes. Minutes are one of the ways to keep track of what is discussed at meetings, and
ensure action points are followed through on. Meeting minutes may seem to be insignificant, but are actually
official documents of the company and can be subpoenaed as evidence in a court of law. An essential skill for
any manager is to to know how to write minutes, what should be contained in them (as well as what should not
be contained in them), and how to format them for presentation.
Your task is to create an informal report. You will watch a video of a mock meeting (in the “Watch It” box below)
and create a word document version of the meeting minutes.
Required Sections
Date and Time
Name of attendees
Acceptance or corrections to previous meeting minutes
Actions to be taken including the next steps
The person assigned to each action
Checkpoint on tasks/progress
The voting outcomes (if there are any)

This meeting meeting took place on January 28th, 2016, at 3pm. The participant’s names are Sarah, Eleanor,
and Julie. Click here to read a transcript of this video.

Spiritual Development of Childhood

Our textbook discusses a number of ideas that may help explain how spiritual development takes place in
childhood. In your initial thread use at least 250 but no more than 400 words to describe one of these ideas
and tell why you believe it is valid. Use information from our textbook, personal observation/experience, and
Scripture to support your position. Be sure to identify your source(s) with at least two APA citations (one from
our textbook and one from Scripture).
