This is the assignment: Write a 700 to 1000 word expository essay in which you explain why or how something has or has not impressed you lately (for example: a product, sports team or player, an entertainer, political party or politician, restaurant or club, a service, a technology device, brand or game, a job, a course…). You must also include comments in which you comment on the other side of your topic. Do not write about a movie, TV series, book, or any other kind of literature. It might be best to use a non-controversial topic for this essay. You can use a controversial topic for essay #4. (We will discuss this assignment in our Thursday tutorial this week, so please ask your questions then.) 1. Use standard essay structure: title, introduction with thesis, a minimum of six well-developed body paragraphs (or more) with transitions, and a concluding paragraph. You may use the first person “I” point of view if you wish because this is a personal essay. 2. Your thesis states your opinion about your subject/topic. In the body of your essay, support your thesis by identifying at least four or more reasons that you used to make your judgment and supply evidence and/or examples related to each reason. 3. Choose your audience, analyze it by answering the six questions on the audience analysis sheet (see Bb), and place the analysis at the end the end of your essay. Part of your grade for this essay is based on how well you analyze your chosen audience and on how well you adjust your writing for this audience. 4. Use your experience as evidence to support your thesis. Research is not required for this essay, but if you do use sources other than yourself, be sure to cite the information and provide a works cited page at the end of your paper. Failure to do so is plagiarism. (We will also discuss this at our tutorial on Thursday.) 5. Double space your essay, use Times New Roman 12 font, and write on one side of the page only. See the next page for format. 5. Underline your thesis and put the word count for the essay at the end. 6. Your essay must be your own original work (i.e. do not submit an essay written for another class or for this class in a previous semester).

Draft the “Analysis” section of your final project. Address the following critical elements: – Analyze the research methods of the study. In other words, how did the researchers test their hypotheses related to the research questions? What, if any, assumptions did the researchers make in order to conduct their research? -Examine the outcomes of those tests. What were the major findings (i.e., did they reject or fail to reject the hypotheses and why)? Were the findings statistically significant (i.e., what was the p-value)? -Evaluate the conclusions drawn by the researchers. Do you think the conclusions are valid based on the data and hypothesis test results? Is there sufficient data to support the researchers’ generalizations? Why or why not?
