An creative narrative about a particular memorable event in my life directed tow
An creative narrative about a particular memorable event in my life directed towards a larger audience that I believe could benefit intellectually by thinking about the importance of the story (story-within-a-lecture kind of essay). Must follow the before and after thought process. 60-70% of the essay must be about the story, while the other 30-40% is about the importance of the story. The topic I chose is about my anxiety disorder- selective mutism. The thought process is as follows: 1. It was during a school event. This was in middle school. There were several options as to which event we can choose to attend. I chose to attend the food making event. During attendance, I was called on. I raised my hand, but didn’t say present. The teacher asked “could you at least say present?” but I didn’t answer. She proceeded to pull me out of class and assumed I was choosing not to talk. 2. I realized mental illness has been ignored by many teachers. From elementary to middle school, no one took me seriously. 3. I feared for those that struggle with the same situation. I hope to spread awareness. 4. Mental illness shouldn’t be ignored, even if it’s just a sign. 5. The audience I intend to target are teachers.
