Explain      how nursing practice has changed over time and how this evolution has      changed the scope of practice and the approach to treating the individual.

The field of nursing has changed over time. In a 750-1,000 word paper, discuss nursing practice today by addressing the following:

  1. Explain      how nursing practice has changed over time and how this evolution has      changed the scope of practice and the approach to treating the individual.
  2. Compare      and contrast the differentiated practice competencies between an associate      and baccalaureate education in nursing. Explain how scope of practice      changes between an associate and baccalaureate nurse.
  3. Identify      a patient care situation and describe how nursing care, or approaches to      decision-making, differ between the BSN-prepared nurse and the ADN nurse.
  4. Discuss      the significance of applying evidence-based practice to nursing care and      explain how the academic preparation of the RN-BSN nurse supports its      application.
  5. Discuss      how nurses today communicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams      and how this supports safer and more effective patient outcomes.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Start reviewing and responding to the postings of your classmates as early in the week as possible. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ initial postings.

To support your work, use your course textbook readings and the South University Online Library. As in all assignments, cite your sources in your work and provide references for the citations in APA format.

Start reviewing and responding to the postings of your classmates as early in the week as possible. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ initial postings. Participate in the discussion by asking a question, providing a statement of clarification, providing a point of view with a rationale, challenging an aspect of the discussion, or indicating a relationship between two or more lines of reasoning in the discussion. Cite sources in your responses to other classmates.

For this assignment, you will complete an iHuman case study based on the course objectives and weekly content. iHuman cases emphasize core learning objectives for an evidence-based primary care curriculum. Throughout your nurse practitioner program, you will use the iHuman case studies to promote the development of clinical reasoning through the use of ongoing assessments and diagnostic skills and to develop patient care plans that are grounded in the latest clinical guidelines and evidence-based practice.

The iHuman assignments are highly interactive and a dynamic way to enhance your learning. Material from the iHuman cases may be present in the quizzes, the midterm exam, and the final exam.

Here you can view information on how to access and navigate iHuman.

This week, complete the iHuman case titled “Dianne Steinberg VE”.

After completing your iHuman Case Study, answer the following questions:

  • What is your list of appropriate differential diagnoses and why?
  • What is the final diagnosis and what assessment findings serve to support this?
  • What are the specific auscultation, palpation, and percussion findings of the lungs that are normal vs. abnormal?

Select two diverse clinical settings; for example: ED versus ICU, PeriOp versus Med-Surg, Pediatrics versus Adults, or Sports Medicine vs. Nursing Home, etc. For your two selected clinical settings, compare and contrast the content, features, need, and value of data, information, knowledge, and decision support to clinical practitioners in those settings.

Justify the clinical elements necessary for each clinical setting and create a recommendation of necessary elements for a shared clinical system.

Make sure that you include the four expanding rings of information (EMR, warehouse, regional, NHIN/PHIN) in your analysis. Describe how the differences would alter the design or features of a clinical system. Support your statements where you claim either similarities or differences between your two settings.

Construct a justification for the shared clinical system from ethical, legal, social, and public policy viewpoints. Formulate a plan for implementation and create the necessary workflow for a successful implementation. Evaluate the role of the master’s prepared informatics nurse after implementation.

Please submit one APA formatted paper between 1000 – 1500 words, not including the title and reference page. The assignment should have a minimum of two scholarly sources, in addition to the textbook.

Properly identifying the cause and type of a patient’s skin condition involves a process of elimination known as differential diagnosis.

Properly identifying the cause and type of a patient’s skin condition involves a process of elimination known as differential diagnosis. Using this process, a health professional can take a given set of physical abnormalities, vital signs, health assessment findings, and patient descriptions of symptoms, and incrementally narrow them down until one diagnosis is determined as the most likely cause.

In this Lab Assignment, you will examine several visual representations of various skin conditions, describe your observations, and use the techniques of differential diagnosis to determine the most likely condition.

To Prepare

Review the Skin Conditions document provided in this week’s Learning Resources, and select one condition to closely examine for this Lab Assignment.

Consider the abnormal physical characteristics you observe in the graphic you selected. How would you describe the characteristics using clinical terminologies?

Explore different conditions that could be the cause of the skin abnormalities in the graphics you selected.

Consider which of the conditions is most likely to be the correct diagnosis, and why.

Search the Walden library for one evidence-based practice, peer-reviewed article based on the skin condition you chose for this Lab Assignment.

Review the Comprehensive SOAP Exemplar found in this week’s Learning Resources to guide you as you prepare your SOAP note.

Download the SOAP Template found in this week’s Learning Resources, and use this template to complete this Lab Assignment.

The Lab Assignment

Choose one skin condition graphic (identify by number in your Chief Complaint) to document your assignment in the SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan) note format rather than the traditional narrative style. Refer to Chapter 2 of the Sullivan text and the Comprehensive SOAP Template in this week’s Learning Resources for guidance. Remember that not all comprehensive SOAP data are included in every patient case.

Use clinical terminologies to explain the physical characteristics featured in the graphic. Formulate a differential diagnosis of three to five possible conditions for the skin graphic that you chose. Determine which is most likely to be the correct diagnosis and explain your reasoning using at least three different references, one reference from current evidence-based literature from your search and two different references from this week’s Learning Resources.
