You will write a 1000-1500 word response to your chosen paper topic from the list below. See Course Outline for the due date.
This assignment is worth 300 points, or 30% of your grade.
DO NOT USE ANY SOURCES OTHER THAN THE DALRYMPLE ARTICLE AND YOUR TEXTBOOK, WHICH YOU WILL CITE USING MLA FORMAT.
YOU WILL ATTACH A FILE IN THE BOX AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.
Learning Objectives:
Students will demonstrate their ability to construct arguments about issues of both personal and universal significance. Their writing should demonstrate that they can construct cogent, concise, and logically coherent arguments.
Assessment:
Students should demonstrate that they can distinguish the relevant points that form a logically coherent argument. They should also be able to construct criticisms which effectively undermine, through the use of appropriate counter-examples, some premise of that argument.
Your assignment is to read any ONE of the following four articles written by Theodore Dalrymple located in the final chapter of the required textbook:
How and How Not to Love Mankind.
Then, FOR THE ARTICLE YOU CHOOSE TO WRITE ON, you will type a 1000-1500 word response in which you address EACH of the following points IN YOUR OWN WORDS: 1) What is the author’s main argument? 2) How does he support his main argument (evidence, ancillary arguments, etc.)? 3) Do you agree or disagree with him? 4) Why or why not? 5) Apply the insights of at least two of the readings we have studied in this course (in chapters 1-9) to your analysis. Make sure to give a substantive explanation of how the philosophers’ insights are relevant to the topic you are discussing.
A WORD OF WARNING: These articles are rather long and complex. The author likes to make extensive use of his rather copious vocabulary, so I strongly urge you to have dictionary.com handy as you work your way through your chosen article. The purpose of this essay assignment is for you to demonstrate your ability to discuss, analyze, and evaluate complex philosophic arguments. I am confident that the reading assignments, tests, and discussion boards will have prepared you for this final, and no doubt challenging, essay assignment.
Note: I only allow one attempt on this assignment. Students who do not fully address all of the components of the assignment as stated in the instructions as well as the grading rubric below will have to be content with the grade they earned.
Please use MLA format.

For this assignment, create a PowerPoint slide presentation for the HR team of the university that details your recruitment strategy, process, procedures, and the timeline for the completion of this contract.
Your submission must be comprehensive to include the role of the recruiting agency and the role of the university HR team and line management in the recruitment and selection process.

Helpful Tips:
Your grade will be based upon:
Use of PowerPoint software as a presentation and marketing tool, to include the use of color, graphics, and research citations.
Depth and applicability of the research that you conduct.
Effectiveness of the recruiting presentation and proposal as a consulting tool.
Critical thought and analysis.
APA formatting (APA, 7th Edition).
Use of the PowerPoint Notes section*
*Students will be graded on their use of the Notes section of the slides in formulating the narrative portion of the presentation to minimize lengthy wording on the slides. This approach will allow the use of bullet points on the slides but demonstrate the depth and scope of the research conducted in the Notes section.
APA Resources:
I encourage you to go online to Purdue OWL, or Excelsior OWL, which have writing labs for students. Look up PowerPoint presentations in APA format in the search box. These websites will have helpful tips on best practices.

To help integrate what you are learning each week, as well as to help you illust

To help integrate what you are learning each week, as well as to help you illustrate your growing subject matter expertise, you’ll complete a weekly blog-style post that focuses in some way on one or more of the topics covered that week.  Each post must be a minimum of 100 words in length (including the post title) with no maximum limitation.  They should be tailored to fit the personal/professional brand or expertise that you’re trying to develop.  Note that later this term (Term 1), you’ll begin to upload all of your posts (for this course and all other courses) to the WordPress website that you will be developing in this course.
Your weekly application posts should go beyond merely reiterating what was covered in the course materials. They should show your target audience(s) how to apply marketing concepts, techniques, or technologies to real-world problems or opportunities for which they have an interest.  Your posts can be serious, light-hearted, tell stories or experiences, give advice, offer critiques of marketing practices you encounter, make comparisons across companies or techniques, describe innovative marketing practices, predict the future of marketing, etc.  The key is that they must be (1) informative to your target audience and (2) pertain in some way to the week’s material for this course.  Other than that, you have free reign.  Remember that the tone, style, voice, and mood of your writing is up to you, but you should always consider what would work best for your target audiences.  You may even decide to have a general theme to your posts, perhaps staying focused on a particular industry or region or marketplace.
