Read Anne Marie Paulin’s essay “Cruelty, Civility, and Other Weighty Matters” in CEL Ch. 8 (p. 230).
Also read the analysis essay, “The Weight of Sanity: A Sample Analysis of Ann Marie Paulin” in CEL Ch. 6 (p. 155).
Paulin’s essay makes an argument about one way that people are marginalized or dismissed in mainstream American culture. As an example of critical reading and rhetorical analysis, the authors of the CEL have written an essay analyzing Paulin’s argument and the rhetorical tools she uses to make it. as you read “The Weight of Sanity,” think about the value of this kind of essay that summarizes and explains how an argument is working instead of evaluating its worth.
Assignment:
Write an initial post in which you respond to the following questions.
What “grade” would you give the sample analysis (“The Weight of Sanity”) as an example of rhetorical analysis? Why?
How well does “The Weight of Sanity” follow the guidelines of textual analysis provided in the CEL Ch. 6 (p. 169-182)?
Post your reply as an initial post to this week’s discussion board. Make sure that you address the questions above and refer specifically to the texts in the CEL in your post. Your initial post should be at least 200 words, and be sure to follow the guidelines below for information about response posts.

Discussion: Organizational Policies and Practices to Support Healthcare Issues
Quite often, nurse leaders are faced with ethical dilemmas, such as those associated with choices between competing needs and limited resources. Resources are finite, and competition for those resources occurs daily in all organizations.
For example, the use of 12-hour shifts has been a strategy to retain nurses. However, evidence suggests that as nurses work more hours in a shift, they commit more errors. How do effective leaders find a balance between the needs of the organization and the needs of ensuring quality, effective, and safe patient care?
In this Discussion, you will reflect on a national healthcare issue and examine how competing needs may impact the development of polices to address that issue.
To Prepare:
· Review the Resources and think about the national healthcare issue/stressor you previously selected for study in Module 1.
· Reflect on the competing needs in healthcare delivery as they pertain to the national healthcare issue/stressor you previously examined.
Post an explanation of how competing needs, such as the needs of the workforce, resources, and patients, may impact the development of policy. Then, describe any specific competing needs that may impact the national healthcare issue/stressor you selected. What are the impacts, and how might policy address these competing needs? Be specific and provide examples.
Assignment: Developing Organizational Policies and Practices
Competing needs arise within any organization as employees seek to meet their targets and leaders seek to meet company goals. As a leader, successful management of these goals requires establishing priorities and allocating resources accordingly.
Within a healthcare setting, the needs of the workforce, resources, and patients are often in conflict. Mandatory overtime, implementation of staffing ratios, use of unlicensed assisting personnel, and employer reductions of education benefits are examples of practices that might lead to conflicting needs in practice.
Leaders can contribute to both the problem and the solution through policies, action, and inaction. In this Assignment, you will further develop the white paper you began work on in Module 1 by addressing competing needs within your organization.
To Prepare:
· Review the national healthcare issue/stressor you examined in your Assignment for Module 1, and review the analysis of the healthcare issue/stressor you selected.
· Identify and review two evidence-based scholarly resources that focus on proposed policies/practices to apply to your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
· Reflect on the feedback you received from your colleagues on your Discussion post regarding competing needs.
The Assignment (4-5 pages):
Developing Organizational Policies and Practices
Add a section to the paper you submitted in Module 1. The new section should address the following:
· Identify and describe at least two competing needs impacting your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
· Describe a relevant policy or practice in your organization that may influence your selected healthcare issue/stressor.
· Critique the policy for ethical considerations, and explain the policy’s strengths and challenges in promoting ethics.
Recommend one or more policy or practice changes designed to balance the competing needs of resources, workers, and patients, while addressing any ethical shortcomings of the existing policies. Be specific and provide examples.
Cite evidence that informs the healthcare issue/stressor and/or the policies, and provide two scholarly resources in support of your policy or practice recommendations.

Task 3 (450 Words)
Reflect on the assigned readings for the week (Chapter 3-Engineering Economic Analysis.pptx and Chapter 4- Life Cycle costing.pptx) . Respond to the following prompts: “What do I feel are the most important aspects of my learning in the chapters this week?” and “What about this learning was really worthy of my time and understanding?” Then explain how important it is in society or business.
Also, provide a graduate-level response to each of the following questions:
American businesses have often been criticized for short-term thinking that places too much emphasis on payback period and ROR. When Honda started making cars in the early 1970s, for example, the chief executive officer stated that the firm would be “willing to accept an ROR no greater than 2% or 3% for as long as it took to be recognized as the best car maker in the world.” In light of the success of many Japanese firms, is the criticism of American business justified?
Most countries have a progressive income tax system whereby each dollar earned in incrementally higher tax brackets is taxed at an increasingly higher rate. Do you think that a flat tax system would be more fair? How about a proportional tax system? Explain your answer.
Discuss the effect of taxes on the life-cycle costing (LCC) of passenger cars. Compare domestic and imported cars.

Task 4 (1.5 Pages)
Activity I: A young engineer decides to save $240 per year toward retirement in 40 years.
If he invests this sum at the end of every year at 9%, then how much will be accumulated by retirement time?
If by astute investing the interest rate could be raised to 12%, then what sum could be saved?
If he deposits one fourth of this annual amount each quarter ($60 per quarter) in an interest bearing account earning a nominal annual interest rate of 12%, compounded quarterly, how much could be saved by retirement time?
In part (c), then what annual effective interest rate is being earned?
Activity II: Maurice Micklewhite has decided to replant his garden. Show him what the cost is of making an erroneous decision at various stages of the project, starting with conceptual design and ending with the ongoing maintenance of the garden.

Currently, our great nation, is fighting through a pandemic. Our president and his officials, are doing the best way they know with the little that is known, of the coronavirus. As the president of the United States, he is the head of the whole country. He is the top chief executive of the federal government, and the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces ( USA.gov, 2018). So as the president, the country looks upon him for answers. Our last two presidents also dealt with presidential level threats as well. For example, President George Bush, dealt with the attacks on 9/11, against our country. Then President Barack Obama, dealt with the assignment to hunt and kill the one in charge of the 9/11 attacks, Osama bin Laden. Now, each president is handling or has handled these crucial moments in our  great history, in their most strategic way. Although, if i was president of the United States during these hard times, I might have done things differently.
Each president has their own type of agenda. Agendas are better done and qualified if they are done early and before things get any worse ( Laureate Ed. Prod. (2018). I would have also prepared and had an agenda way ahead of time. Our country has been very vulnerable and comfortable, leaving us helpless in a catastrophic moment of crisis. For instance, with our current situation, I would have shut down our country much earlier. Prepped our country and our first responders with all the services and equipment they needed before the virus arrived. As we were watching other parts of the world suffer, it was only a matter of time before the virus made its way, states side. We could have prepared and confronted it head on, instead of laying back and to see how serious it was. With 9/11, I would have left the elementary school where George Bush was attending that day, as soon as I heard of news that our country was under attack. I would have arranged an intelligence task team, right then and there, to give me answers on what has happened, what other attacks have happened, what went wrong in our defense system, and can we prevent another attack like this from happening. Then with the assassination of Osama bin Laden, I would not have waited so long to actually find him and attack. He just kept sending taunting videos to make himself look invincible, intermittently. I would have not shown the videos to the public and not played his taunting game. Letting him know, that I meant business, and he was not going to make our country look like a clown.
(IT IS TO DO A COMENT ABOUT THE ABOVE DISCUSSION , ALSO NEED TWO REFENRENCES AND LIKE A PAGE OF LONGER
