Annotated Bibliography Assignment: For this assignment, you will need to gather sources that relate to the rhetorical implications of visuals. These sources should be books, peer reviewed journal articles, and other relevant sources approved by your instructor. Since the research you’re doing is scholarly, you will only use scholarly sources to support your claims. (That means no Wikipedia or Dictionary entries, for example.) You must annotate six sources using no less than 250 words per entry. Argumentative Essay: Write a 3-page argumentative essay over the topic of your choice. You must include one secondary scholarly source, and an additional source of your choosing (primary or secondary). Essay must be in MLA format. Requirements: 3 pages Double Spaced 1-inch margins Times New Roman font 1 source minimum (website/book/film/interview) Needs to be less than 15% plagiarism through turnitin Follow the five-part updated version of the classical pattern: 1) Introduction: Get the reader’s attention, establish your qualifications, common ground, demonstrate your fairness, and state your claim and contradictory argument 2) Background: Present information, personal stories, anecdotes and anything else relevant to your argument. 3) Lines of Argument: Present good reasons, including logical and emotional appeals to support your claim. 4) Alternative Arguments: Carefully consider alternative points of view and opposing arguments, notes advantages and disadvantages of these views, and explain why your view is preferable to others. 5) Conclusion: Summarize the argument, elaborate on your implications of your claim, make clear what you want the audience to think or do, and finally reinforce your credibility/emotional appeal.
