It is important to understand what the word supervision means. The word has its roots and meaning which comes from the Latin word and has the meaning “to look over” and “to watch over” (Garthwait, 2012).  With the social work field, it is important that the supervisor make sure that everything the learning intern does is a satisfying and inspiring experience. With Paso Del Norte Agency, my supervisor makes sure that I am aware of all the programs that we offer along with other programs that are going to be available once we present the findings to the bored. It is important that I gain experience and learn about the programs that many parents are in need of for their child that has special needs.

My instructor’s leadership style varies depending on what is going on in the office. It is important that the intern complete anything that has to be completed such as going through surveys that will be used to make programs for parents with children that have disabilities. Other leadership styles would be to secure and encourage the intern while arranging professional growth.

An explanation of the role of supervision in your field education experience

An explanation of my supervision in field education is flexible, due to many different programs and different individuals from different cultures, backgrounds, circumstances, and ethnicity. One must be prepared to address issues in different ways.

A description of your field instructor’s leadership style and an explanation of whether the leadership style will promote your agency learning agreement during your field education experience

The role of my field instructor leadership style varies depending on the situation which may arise. She can adapt to any circumstance which she may have to alter her style of leadership to resolve situations as needed.

The supervisor must be flexible when circumstances warrants his or her attention. Supervisors cannot resolve every issue with the same approach style (Garthwait, 2012). This will enhance my knowledge when assisting the needs of the clients. This also teaches me all problems are not resolved the same way.

Supervision is important in field experience especially at my place of field. It is important for the supervisor because this is their way of seeing hiring potential in interns. Supervision is important to any intern because it helps students learn hands on training and be able to implement what is learned in school. It also help to understand the codes of ethics by watching senior workers and supervisors perform.

My supervisor is very active in my learning experience. She is open and available. She is concerned about my learning experience. She works and talks with me about testing for Masters level social work licensure test. She equips me for daily outings and future experiences in social work. Her style is teaches self awareness (Mctighe, 2011). She builds on strengths.

As a student who wrote many research papers, I believe it is important to do the literature review first before developing a full question. Developing a researchable question is one of the challenging tasks a researcher encounters when initiating a project (Aslam & Emmanuel, 2010). There might be any idea we want to explore, but it is important to do the literature review to ensure that we can support our research question fully by data and actual facts. As a social worker who wants to find an answer to a social problem, first there has to be a problem that is identified, second the researches should be broad at the beginning and narrow it down as we are eliminating literature reviews. The question should be tailored to the specific data and literature found which will support the question (Yegidis & Weinbach, 2009). If a student or researcher decides on a question first, the literature review might be very narrow which can cause she/he to miss important data and research. Also, the paper he/she is writing might not be supporting the question fully.

6 week complete course foundations of graduate study in psyc 6001

This week, you will discuss potential challenges you and your classmates foresee in the coming weeks. Together, you can share strategies that could help you overcome these challenges, as a group and individually.

This dialogue through the Discussion Board is designed to connect you with your new colleagues so that you can develop community and engage with each other in a supportive manner as you begin the educational journey together.

To prepare for this Discussion:Locate and download your Program of Study (POS) from your Field of Study tab, found in the left navigation menu.Review Walden’s mission and vision statements and Walden’s goals and values in this week’s Learning Resources.Explore the web page “Social Change,” located in this week’s Learning Resources.Reflect on what you hope to achieve as a graduate student personally, professionally, and within the larger community.Consider factors that could pose a challenge to the successful completion of your chosen degree.Reflect on your values, ideals, and goals in relation to what you have learned about Walden.Think about how you will incorporate a commitment to social change, particularly as it relates to the area(s) of interest represented by your program/specialization, into your professional, personal, and academic goals.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 3 a description of at least two expectations that you have about your program (e.g., something you hope to get out of the graduate program, for yourself, your family, or your community)and how the expectations of your program are aligned with what you have learned about the requirements of your program. Apply those expectations and hopes to Walden’s mission, vision, and values. Then, describe at least two challenges or barriers you foresee in completing your degree. Explain why you chose this particular field of study at Walden and how you intend to use your degree.

Read a selection of your colleagues’ postings and note the similarities and differences compared to what you shared.

Respond by Day 5 to two of your colleagues, and continue the Discussion through Day 7 by affirming colleagues’ concerns or hopes and suggesting another strategy you find useful. Suggest at least one resource at Walden that they might also find helpful.
