Select a movie from AFI’s 10 Top 10 lists and explain how three cinematic techniques and/or design elements have helped establish a major theme in that film. Note: While you are allowed to choose a film that does not come from the AFI lists, you are strongly encouraged to email your professor to receive approval before doing so.
In 800 to 1200 words Describe a major theme of the movie you have selected using evidence from the movie itself as well as course resources and other scholarly sources to support your position. Identify at least three techniques (cinematography, lighting, acting style, or direction) and/or design elements (set design, costuming, or hair and makeup), and explain how these techniques and/or design elements contribute to the establishment of the theme. Reference particular scenes or sequences in your explanations. State your opinion regarding the mise en scène, including How the elements work together. How congruent the design elements are with the theme of the movie. Whether or not other techniques would be as effective (Explain your reasoning).
Note: Remember that a theme is an overarching idea that recurs throughout the plot of a film. It is the distilled essence of what the film is about, the main design which the specific scenes and actions lead a viewer to understand.
Your paper should be organized around a thesis statement that focuses on how the elements of your chosen feature-length film both establish and maintain one of its major themes.
Identify and describe your cultural identity. You will explore one culture that you identify with in this assignment, examining the origin, identity, history, and current state of the culture. Your description should include:
Your culture may come from a region of the world (spatial), a place in time (temporal), a spiritual or belief orientation, or a profession. As you can see by the definitions at the top of the assignment sheet, culture is defined in many ways. Part of understanding the culture is knowing where and/or when it comes from.
Cultural Identity. Describe your culture, including nativity, race/ethnicity, language(s), gender and generational status, spirituality, social systems, occupations, and other elements that are key to understanding your cultural identity.
Identify and describe key historical and current moments and movements for your culture, focusing on those associated with social justice and human rights. This should include experience with other cultural groups and places, and the outcome of those experiences on your culture and its members.
Your culture today. In this final section you should describe your cultures successes or challenges today relating to social justice, equity, and/or health In other words, whats going on now that affects your culture, positively or negatively?
Discussion: The Application of Data to Problem-Solving
In the modern era, there are few professions that do not to some extent rely on data. Stockbrokers rely on market data to advise clients on financial matters. Meteorologists rely on weather data to forecast weather conditions, while realtors rely on data to advise on the purchase and sale of property. In these and other cases, data not only helps solve problems, but adds to the practitioner’s and the discipline’s body of knowledge.
Of course, the nursing profession also relies heavily on data. The field of nursing informatics aims to make sure nurses have access to the appropriate date to solve healthcare problems, make decisions in the interest of patients, and add to knowledge.
In this Discussion, you will consider a scenario that would benefit from access to data and how such access could facilitate both problem-solving and knowledge formation.
To Prepare:
Reflect on the concepts of informatics and knowledge work as presented in the Resources.
Consider a hypothetical scenario based on your own healthcare practice or organization that would require or benefit from the access/collection and application of data. Your scenario may involve a patient, staff, or management problem or gap.
Post a description of the focus of your scenario. Describe the data that could be used and how the data might be collected and accessed. What knowledge might be derived from that data? How would a nurse leader use clinical reasoning and judgment in the formation of knowledge from this experience?
