2 Discussions And 1 Case Study

Discussion 3.1

Why is it important to study the internal resources, capabilities, and activities of organizations? What insights can be gained?

Discussion 3.2

Domino’s Pizza was 50 years old in 2010. Visit the company’s business-related website () and read the company profile under the “Investors” tab. Does the firm focus on the economic, accounting, or shareholder perspective in the describing its competitive advantage in the profile. Defend/explain your answer.

Case Study 3.1

Global Information Systems

Learning Objectives

Identify e-commerce components and global considerations for developing a web presence.
Discuss obstacles to using global information systems.
Apply tasks involved in the requirements gathering phase of the systems development life-cycle.
Apply practices of the Agile methodology through the perspective of the requirements gathering phase.
Instructions

Step 1: Think about your fictional business. Read https://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2018/10/7-ways-to-design-for-a-global-audience/ on how to design a website for a global website. Find a website of an organization like the one that youve proposed (or similar if your organization type is one of a kind), and identify features of their website that make them global. Include screenshots and a URL of the website that contains the global features.

Step 2: Answer the following questions

What are some challenges that you foresee your organization facing in a global environment as it relates to information systems? (200-400 words)
How do you plan to overcome one of the challenges that you have identified? (200-400 words)
Step 3: Think about your fictional business. Think of a hypothetical situation for which there is a need for an information system for your organization (payroll, human resources, sales, etc.). Briefly describe in 200-400 words this hypothetical situation and then describe the needs of the information system using the four Ws-why, who, when, and what (why do I need this, who needs this, when is this needed, and what is it needed for).

Step 4: Create 2 user stories for a fictional business need.

Read the item below on “User Stories” to familiarize yourself with this concept:

User Stories Explained (Visual Paradigm, 2020)

“In software development and product management, a user story is an informal, natural language description of one or more features of a software system. A user story is a tool used in Agile software development to capture a description of a software feature from an end-user perspective. A user story describes the type of user, what they want and why. A user story helps to create a simplified description of a requirement.

User stories are written in everyday language and describe a specific goal (what) from the perspective of an individual (who) along with the reason (why) he/she wants it.

In software development, the goal is often a new product feature, the individual is some type of end-user and the reason is the benefit that the user sees in the targeted product feature.

User Story Examples:

As a [customer], I want [shopping cart feature] so that [I can easily purchase items online].
As an [manager], I want to [generate a report] so that [I can understand which departments need more resources].
As a [customer], I want to [receive an SMS when the item is arrived] so that [I can go pick it up right away]
In the examples above:

Role represents the person, system, subsystem or any entity else who will interact with the system to be implemented to achieve a goal. He or she will gain values by interacting with the system.
Action represents a user’s expectation that can be accomplished through interacting with the system.
Benefits represents the value behind the interaction with the system.”
What your submission should include:

1) Responses to Steps 1-4.
2) The name of who contributed at the top of your submission.
3) Completion of the Activity 5 – Reflection Survey.

Observation Report Between School Aged Child Or Adolescent With His Or Her Parent

Students should locate natural settings for these observations (e.g., friend or family homes, child
care settings, backyards, playgrounds, malls, senior centers, restaurants, etc.) in which there
exists a strong potential for interaction partners to be observed. You are free to use relatives
and/or friends! Students should observe each set of interaction partners for a
minimum of three
hours
(all at once or in multiple time frames), focusing on
verbal and nonverbal
communication
for each person for each assignment, and then complete a written summary.
Students must follow this format for each written summary of their observations:
I.
Introduction:
o
This section must include a detailed description of what research and theory
explain are the typical interaction patterns, communication skills and abilities
and/or, language skills one would expect to see in the age groups of each
interaction partner. For example, if you are observing a child and an adult, you
must explain what the research/theory says are the typical interaction patterns,
communication skills and abilities of BOTH the adult AND the child. If you only

discuss one or the other, points will be deducted.
o
This entire section must be grounded in
communication research and theory
using
only scholarly, academic sources websites are NOT acceptable sources for any
assignment in this class. Each paper should have a minimum of 4 scholarly
sources.
o
This section should be a minimum of approximately 2-3 pages in length
II.
Narrative:
o
This section must contain rich, detailed descriptions of the specific behaviors and
interactions of BOTH partners that you observe during your time observing the
interaction partners.
o
This section must accurately reflect the amount of time you spent observing the
interaction partners. Brief, cursory descriptions are not enough.
o
This section must also include as many details as possible in order to accurately
describe the skills and abilities of each interaction partner exhibited during your
observations.
o
This section should be a minimum of approximately 3-4 pages in length
III.
Assessment:
o
This section must include your assessment of whether the interactive partners are
communicating the way research and theory says they should be communicating.
You must explain if both partners are interacting in ways research/theory say they
should be interacting.
o
Your assessment must be based upon your observations in comparison with what
one would expect to see while watching the interactive partners communicate.
o
Each statement of assessment must include evidence from your observations and
from the communication research and theory.
o
This section is where you combine your introduction information and observation
information to prove your assessment is accurate. Yes, ideally you will be
repeating information from the introduction, narrative and including more outside
empirical evidence to fully support your assessment of the interactive partners.
o
Again, this section must be ground in communication research and theory
combined with evidence from your observations.
o
As stated previously, websites are NOT acceptable sources for any assignment in
this class.
o
This section should be a minimum of approximately 3-4 pages in length

IV.
Complete APA-style Reference List
o
All source materials must be listed and properly documented throughout each
assignment.

All work must be: typed using a 12pt, Times New Roman font, with 1inch margins,
double-spaced.

Bullet points/lists of any kind cannot be used in these assignments

Jitterbug Perfume

What’s Happening in Jitterbug Perfume?

1. There are four main subplots/character groups in this novel. List two or three main characters in each group. (4 groups x 2-3 characters each.)

2. Explain what is happening in Seattle, in about 4 sentences.

3. Explain what Alobar and Kudra are trying to achieve and list their tools and techniques to try to reach this goal. Write your answer in about 4 sentences.

4. What do you think the overall message or theme is of Jitterbug Perfume is? What message or moral does Tom Robbins want us to remember after reading this book.

5. In about 300 words, argue how Jitterbug Perfume is or is not “postmodern”. Use specific references to Klages’ article on postmodernism and examples from the novel (with page numbers) to defend your answer. Treat this like a mini-essay, with a thesis, support from the novel, and support from the secondary source (Klages’ article). Cite your sources in MLA format.

**Write your answer in 3-5 sentences, including direct evidence, quotations, and page references in MLA format. **

Please number each answer as well.
