Organized crime and the drug cartels

The media is full of reports written about organized crime and the drug cartels penetrating Latin American
police forces, courts, and prisons. However, more information has surfaced indicating that the same
permeation by organized drug traffickers is also taking place in the US criminal justice system. Drug

Trafficking does not only occur in big popular cities such as, New York, Miami or Los Angeles, but also in

much smaller communities. How can this happen in the USA? What allows these key American institutions

to become susceptible to such corruption? Research these questions by reviewing professional literature

and media reports.
