Conduct a critical appraisal of the four peer-reviewed articles you selected and analyzed by completing the Evaluation Table within the Critical Appraisal Tool Worksheet Template.

Part 4B: Critical Appraisal of Research

Based on your appraisal, in a 1-2-page critical appraisal, suggest a best practice that emerges from the research you reviewed. Briefly explain the best practice, justifying your proposal with APA citations of the research.

Prepare a written submission (800 words) on 2 contemporary strategic management concepts relating lecture contents/topics from published peer-review journals.
The submission expect students to complete extensive research on the chosen 2 topics and analyse and discuss ethical issues for business sustainability.

2.    Porters 5 forces

DO ANALYSIS + CRITIQUE 2 THEORIES + HOW YOU HAVE CHANGED YOUR THINKING TOWARDS STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT.
Eg:
I understood what pestel was before, but now when I look at my company, I now understand the pestel means this for me

I always thought porters 5 forces was about marketing but I now know porters 5 forces is about industry analysis + selecting industries that have above average returns

Then APPLY TO WHERE YOU ARE + WHAT ARE YOU DOING (use your work environment)

Format:
1. Introduction 150 words
2. Body 500 words
3. Conclusion
4. References

2 theories:
1st theory is main with dominant content = write 4-5 paragraphs + supplementary theory = write 3-4 paragraphs

Saying,
Eg:
I now understand how the pestel environment changes my thinking about strategic management

You will then start articulating what you are originally thought + what your new thoughts are + how you are APPLYING IT to your work environment.

Dont have a lot of words but just stay very closely on the 2 theories/ concepts that you are looking at analysing. What you do is:

1. pick out the theory
2. pick out the features of the theory
3. pick out the most important changes for you in the theory!
4. drill into the change

If it has not changed in your concept, do not include it!

What you are trying to do is ARTICULATE YOUR LEARNING + YOUR KNOWLEDGE.

IMPORTANT:
If you are going to articulate a strong argument, start with the topic sentence, so clearly state what you are going to talk about in that paragraph.
Eg:
the primary change for me in the pestel was my understanding of a political social + legal

It frames the paragraph + also frames the section that you are going to talk about.
Then, have building blocks of your sentences + have building blocks of linking the paragraphs together.

DO NOT: the bottom point, recycling theories = not masters level!

MUST DO: YOUR CONCEPTUAL + APPLICATION KNOWLEDGE. Extract how you now thinking + getting you to demonstrate that you have moved beyond telling me that the pestel is 6 factors, so it is REALLY THE ANALYSIS + THE CONCEPTUALISATION OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

Marking criteria:
Content – Did the written submission include contemporary concepts and theories in strategic management? 40%
There is a comprehensive suite of links between established strategic management theories/concepts and contemporary issues and strategic management theories.

Critical Evaluation of presented contemporary theory 30%
The submission demonstrates an outstanding level of critique and insight based on the theory

Ethical aspect 20%
The whole discussion is framed by an ethical and social justice perspective of the topic discussed.

Standard of presentation 10%
Demonstrated eloquence and rhetorical sophistication.
