For this essay you are to select a current social issue. You will be taking a personal position on the issue and identifying and developing reasons to support your position. You need to demonstrate you have done research on the topic/issue (at least 3 5 sources). You should offer substantive information in your essay. Develop your discussion to address the following:

a) A title for your paper. Be sure to include a title page in APA format. The title page must have: title of paper, your name, name and time of course, instructors name and paper due date.
b) Provide an introduction to the issue and give some overall information about why this issue is important. You may also want to indicate in this section why you find this particularly interesting and why you selected it.
c) State your position and introduce in general your reasons for this position.
d) Provide and develop at least three (3) reasons to support your position. You can give both moral and fact-based reasons. Use examples and evidence to strengthen your reasons. If you cite or pull information from any sources be sure to cite them using APA format.
e) Explore what opposing viewpoints exist in relationship to your position. For example, if you are against compulsory drug testing for athletes, state why someone might argue in favor of it. Discuss what might be valid and invalid support for these viewpoints.
f) Provide an integrative conclusion that revisits your position, overall reasons that you discussed, and how the opposing viewpoints relate to your stance.
g) Include a bibliography of sources in APA format

Clinical Practice Project (CPP) Goals and Objectives

The project must demonstrate your ability to synthesize and apply the knowledge and skills acquired through this academic program to real-world nursing issues and problems. This final project will affirm your ability to think critically and creatively, to solve practical problems related to nursing practice or the facilitation of patient-centered care, to make reasoned and ethical decisions, and to communicate effectively orally and in writing.  Remember, your project is to be actually implemented during the five weeks of this course.

NOTE: This is slightly different than the form that you submitted for approval in NRSE_4600_Pre-course.

Objectives

Students will have the opportunity to synthesize knowledge and apply skills acquired in the nursing academic and practice settings.
Students will extend their academic experience into areas of nursing practice interest, working with new ideas, issues, organizations, and individuals.
Students will demonstrate the ability to think and act critically and creatively about nursing practice issues and will further develop their analytical and ethical leadership skills necessary to address and help solve these issues.

Briefing Note + Advocacy Letter on HIV/AIDS

Assignment: You are a nurse working for the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) in a policy position. You have been asked to prepare a briefing note for the CNA Board of Directors that offers background information, analysis and recommendations on a global health issue such as HIV/AIDS. Your briefing note will be on an issue that is related to your presentation topic (it does not have to be on the entire topic area but on a component related to your presentation on HIV/AIDS). In addition to the briefing note, you are asked to draft a one- page advocacy letter to a relevant decision-maker that is related to the issues in your briefing note.

Briefing Note
Your briefing note should be a maximum of 5 pages (not including title page or references), and should include the following elements:

1.    An introduction and brief summary of the issue/problem that the Canadian Nurses Association needs to address for example:
a.    What is the problem?
b.    Why is it a problem/how & why is it linked to global forces?
c.    What are the health implications of this problem? For example:
i.    How does it affect global health/global health equity/inequity?
ii.    Are problems experienced differently in developed versus developing countries?
d.    How does the problem/issue affect nursing on a global scale?
i.    What are the implications of this?

2.    A discussion of policies/actions to address this global problem.
a.    What solutions/actions/policies will address this global issue? Why? What is the evidence supporting these solutions?
b.    What should national/ provincial/ governments or non-government bodies do to address this problem? Why?

3.    A policy/advocacy plan for CNA to achieve the desired policy solutions.
a.    What specific action/s should CNA advise the Canadian government/ICN/and provincial nursing associations to take? Why?
b.    What actions should CNA take in cooperation with the provincial associations
i.    Include supporting evidence for your recommendations, and the implications of not following the recommendations.

Your one-page advocacy letter from you as a nursing student will be addressed to a policy maker (e.g., PM, Premier, etc.) encouraging/advocating for a specific policy action related to your briefing note. The letter should be properly structured & organized and should clearly articulate the policy action sought, and why it is recommended. The letter should be addressed to the decision maker that is appropriate for the policy sought.

I submitted my dissertation then I received the results letter which states that l need to implement a number of substantive changes and recommendations as per Higher Degrees Examination Committee and the examiner feedback. Based on the feedback, the examiners decided that the changes should be implemented.
