The question of truth has become more important than ever in the age of ‘Fake news’. Although this phenomena has existed in the past, it has grown exponentially on the social media platform.

What is ‘fake news’? What could be the causes behind the spread and popularity of ‘fake news’? How can we- as philosophers- try to address this problem?  How can we identify and protect ourselves from ‘fake news’?

Compare the people living in this make-belief world to those chained in Plato’s ‘Allegory of the cave’.
