COVID – 19

In your initial post discuss how you would grade President Trump, Congress, Senate, Governor’s, Mayors and other elected officials (particularly President Trump) in how they addressed and responded to COVID – 19.  Discuss measures you believe should/could have been taken in the wake of the pandemic and the impact it has had on the United States of America, i.e. state lockdowns, university closures, online instruction, curfews, travel restrictions.  Consider the measures taken by government officials and the impact of those measures on the civil liberties of U.S. citizens. In addition, discuss and evaluate how Texas Southern University (and other institutions of higher learning) responded to the virus. Speak as openly as you wish and be sure to outline the variables you use to measure the performance of elected officials and university administrators.

Also, for this week’s forum place yourself in the role of an elected official and/or university administrator and discuss what steps you would have taken to address COVID – 19.  Feel free to include in your post how this event has impacted you personally.

Take-home Response 3: Zimmerman’s Metamorphosis

Take-home Response 3: Zimmerman’s Metamorphosis
Today we saw a performance of Mary Zimmerman’s take on Ovid’s Metamorphoses, but you also have the text of the play available to you as a PDF file under “Week 13:  Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses.”

Please use what you have seen and read to answer the following discussion prompt:

The fact that her play begins and ends with the character of Midas suggests that Zimmermans choice of myths and the order of their appearance is not due to chance. What do you think she is trying to tell us through her choice of myths as well as the narrative progression of the play?

In your answer please be sure to support your ideas with references to the events that take place in the play (and, if necessary in Ovid’s Metamorphoses).
