Hi,
What I require is a Dissertation proposal on the topic mentioned. I have received Ethical clearance for the topic and will be sending my ethical approval form to you. It is very clearly mentioned as to how the proposal must be done. Various stages of the proposal have been clearly defined in the ethics form. I have already partially completed the 1st chapter of the proposal, i.e., The introduction part. I have also shortlisted various references which need to be referred to and mentioned in the Literature review chapter. PLEASE stick to the instruction given and adhere to the format.

U.S. Military

As commander-in-chief, the president retains the ability to commit troops to action and maintain them in theater for up to 90 days without need for Congressional authorization. After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, President Bush sent troops into Afghanistan and Iraq in support of the war on terror. This assignment will provide students an opportunity to investigate the arguments in support and in opposition to military involvement, evaluate Americans levels of support for the conflicts, and describe the global impact of this military intervention.

In this writing assignment, students will need to:

Outline the presidents (President Bush) justification for military intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan. Additionally, students should identify another U.S. government official who supported military intervention and their reasons for doing so.
Identify two U.S. government officials who disagreed with military intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan (post-9/11) and their reasons for opposition.
Explain the impact of U.S. military intervention domestically (re: intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan post-9/11). Questions that should be answered in addressing this section include: Did the American public support intervention? Did the level of support change over time? Did these opinions result in any electoral shifts?
Describe the impact of U.S. military intervention on other countries (re: intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan post-9/11). Did the U.S. receive international support for our military intervention? Why or why not? Did our military intervention lead to regime changes? Describe them. What has been the impact of those regime changes?
Additional requirements for the writing assignment are as follows:

The essay must be a minimum of 750 words in length, typed, double-spaced and with one (1) inch margins on all sides. The font should be ten (10) or twelve (12) point Times New Roman or Ariel font. Longer papers are fine but shorter are not! Papers that have fewer than 750 words will not be graded. Headers and citations do not count toward the minimum word length requirement.
A proper MLA header should be used on the paper. Please refer to the grading rubric for the specific information about what should be included in the header. No title page should be utilized.
The paper should use MLA citation style for all citations. (Do not forget to properly cite and/or quote all material used in completing these essays in order to avoid violations of plagiarism rules.)
Students will need to include a minimum of three (3) outside sources for their writing assignment. The course textbook may be used as a source but does not count as one of the three (3) required sources. Students will be graded upon the type of sources used (meaning they need to be reputable sources) so please take care in selecting which sources to use. Internet sources are permitted, but again, they should be limited to reputable sources. Students who have questions about which sources are and are not appropriate need to consult with the professor. As a note of caution, Wikipedia and Think Quest are not appropriate sources and should not be used in completing this essay assignment. Encyclopedias and dictionaries should not be used as sources either.

Students will need to submit their writing assignments through this assignment link on Canvas by the posted deadline. In accordance with course policies, late submissions will not be accepted. The professor will not accept any emailed writing assignments or hardcopies of the writing assignments. Only papers submitted through this assignment link will be accepted at all. All papers submitted through this assignment link will be run through Turnitin.

Because the paper has specific formatting requirements, students will need to save and submit their assignments through the Turnitin link as a .doc, .docx, or .rtf file. If students submit their papers as any other type of file, the formatting may become altered, which would result in a loss of formatting points on the assignment. Additionally, the professor may not be able to open the file, which will result in no credit being awarded for the paper. The project must be submitted as a single document in order for Turnitin to score the assignment.

Evaluating a Controversial Argument

Purpose: The objective of this assignment is to practice persuasive writing, which includes the elements of logos, pathos and ethos as well as practice writing an evaluation.

Topic: Evaluations are everyday arguments that help individuals make decisions. Should I vaccinate my child? Should I become vegan? Am I spending too much time in front of the TV? These are some issues that can generate strong evaluations. To help your audience reach a decision, it is important to establish compelling criteria that weighs the evidence before leading to a judgment. A strong evaluation includes opinion based on observation and fact, not based on personal assumptions and biases.

Writing Task: Begin with research. What are some arguments people have made that you find yourself disagreeing with? You will need to choose one and write an evaluation essay disproving that argument. This argument can be a speech (maybe from a political figure), a lecture (possibly from a professor), a podcast (like Joe Rogan), a blog (choose someone credible), a tweet (our President has tons), and the list goes on. You will need to find the original source and include it in your Works Cited page. Then, do the following: Evaluate your chosen argument with the intent to disprove it.

Tips:

* Contextualize the argument. Background information will be needed, so make sure to provide it (i.e. who, what, when, where). Be very specific. For example, is the tweet youre analyzing in response to a bigger issue? You will need to clearly identify the issue itself.

* Brainstorm the argument by creating specific criteria. For instance, you might want to begin by asking, Does this argument violate any persons rights? Or you might want to ask, Is this argument based on biased opinion? Remember, a strong evaluation is not going to be based on your personal preferences or assumptions. For example, if youre evaluating an argument against chocolate, you shouldnt argue that the writers argument is weak because you love chocolate.

* Be persuasive by considering the logos, pathos and ethos of the argument youre evaluating. You might want to ask yourself what evidence the argument provides, how the writer of the argument tries to build credibility, and how the writer tries to appeal to the emotions of the reader. Avoid aggressive, offensive language and work on your stylistic flow.

* If youre critiquing the argument, identify fallacies in the authors line of reasoning.

* Do research. I would like you to use three credible sources: one source should be a credible media article (preferably from a newspaper or magazine), one source should be a scholarly article (published in a scholarly journal), and the third can be any credible media or multimedia source you choose yourself. You must provide a Works Cited page that includes all outside sources as well as the original argument youre analyzing.
