ITP (immune thrombocytopenic purpura)

My close friend recently had gotten food poisoned after eating Chipotle. She became very ill. As time went

by she started to bruises on her body and would cough up blood. My friend went to urgent care and they

immediately transferred her to the ER. Turns out she has idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura aslo called

ITP, immune thrombocytopenic purpura. It usually happens after your body goes through a trauma. There

are two types one of them are temporary and the other is chronic. Usually when you get it in your

adulthood it most likely chronic. Her body went through trauma because she got food poisoning and her

immune system started to attack her white blood cells and will continue to attack the white blood cells so

her body is at war with itself constantly which leads to her having no energy and having to do blood

transfusions or she has to stay on steroids. I would like to know more about ITP and what can trigger it in

a healthy person.

Nature-vs- nurture debate regarding criminology.

We will consider the nature-vs- nurture debate regarding criminology. Now that we studied the Nature

(biological theories) and the Nurture (Sociological theories) and have a strong foundation on each, what is

your educated opinion?

Nature means a person is constitutionally or genetically predisposed to be criminal (Born criminals)
Nurture means that the course of life and its events caused the person to become a criminal.

Metaphysical means non-science. If you remember from your readings (Chapter 3), the metaphysical

period lasted for thousands of years prior to the Renaissance period. The belief that Gods, demons, or

unexplained or unproven spirits and the like caused criminal action. This also includes the philosophy

components (remember ethics?) as well.

For example if I believe Nature is more powerful than Nurture and metaphysical, my chart may look like

this…

Counterfeiting and Design Plagiarism in the Fashion Industry

The ethical dilemma of counterfeiting has long plagued the fashion industry. What defines a counterfeit?

The most common forms of counterfeiting is often brand name forgery, whereby distributors sell fake

products with a brand label, and design plagiarism, when brands streamline their supply chain to quickly

imitate a competitor’s product. The latter of these issues raise many implications for ethics in intellectual

property rights. Furthermore, if a consumer knowingly and willingly chooses to purchase a counterfeit

product for a fraction of the original price, is the supplier righteously fulfilling a niche in the free market?

Guidelines:
Why is this an important issue to analyze?
Assess some broader societal impacts (supply chain, consumer, and producers)
Brief analysis using certain ethical frameworks such as corporate social responsibility, deontology,

utilitarianism, etc.
