Planning your Business Solutions Project

1: Planning your Business Solutions Project
Aim: To consolidate previous learning and plan for the business solutions project

In the previous course, you will have created an eight-week timeline for your research project. We would like you to take some time now to review this schedule and further refine it based on the structure of this course.

Your Course Guide will indicate the weekly breakdown of work, and you should use this to help you allocate your time to different elements of your research and writing. Whilst you will be working largely independently to gather and analyse your data, the process will be supported by Action Learning Set meetings. This is an important element of this course that you must participate in fully to get the best learning experience.

This collaborative element will not only help you enhance and refine your project work, but will help you develop invaluable skills relating to long distance collaboration. We therefore advise you to plan your time effectively to enable you to prepare for and engage with these Action Learning Set meetings, to get the greatest benefit from the approach.

We would like you to create a detailed eight-week plan that outlines each element of your research project, indicating how you intend to schedule your time to complete the Summative Assessment by 12pm Friday of Week 8. Remember, you need to leave time to write up your research as well as to review and edit your work.

Share your plan in the Tutorial area for discussion with your tutor.

Please note the description, thanks!

Twi questions in total, answer all.

1. In the Examples of Accents and Dialects topic, name one feature from Finland English accent or dialect. Explain how it differs from the mainstream / better known / prestigious variety, with examples.

2. Non-standard varieties often undergo changes over time. For example, in Hong Kong Cantonese young speakers are increasingly unable to tell apart the six tones (e.g. vs. , see research by Peggy Mok for details).

Report an ongoing change in a dialect / accent that you are familiar with. Provide details so that you classmates can learn from you. Alternatively, provide further examples to one of your classmates’ replies here.

Note: Language change means changes in vocabulary, grammar, etc.. This is not about “language shift”.

Supreme Court Essay

Complete  a case essay on any United States Supreme Court case that involves an  interpretation of the Constitution – this encompasses most of the cases  that come before the Supreme Court. However, please choose a case that  was heard by the Supreme Court from 2009 to the present. Again, please  do not choose a case that is older than 2009. This will help ensure that  you are writing your essay on current, relevant case law.

– Your essay should be around 2 pages and contain the following information:

– Who is involved in the case?

–  How has the case moved through the legal system (who filed it, in what  court? What appellate court heard it? How did it get to the Supreme  Court?)?

– What was the issue in the case?

– What did the Court decide? (note that the US Supreme Court is called “Court”, not “court” and not “SCOTUS”)

– What was the Court’s analysis (WHY did they decide as they did)?

– Did any Justices dissent, and if so, what did they have to say?

– What is the impact of this case?

If  you can’t find a good case, you can always message me for ideas. If you  search on Nexis Uni or www.oyez.org you should be able to find  something.

Please  remember that if you cut and paste something from the internet into  your assignment, that is plagiarism and you will receive a 0 for the  assignment and be reported to the school. Please note that any site  ending with “pedia”is not a reliable site and will not be accepted as a  resource. The rubric for this assignment is attached.

Please  note: Papers will be automatically added to and checked against the  standard Turnitin repositories. Originality reports will be returned to  the faculty and student in roughly 15 minutes of the submission.  Multiple submissions are allowed.

Please  make sure you are not copying and pasting from your source. Most of the  material should be paraphrased in your own words; verbatim quotations  should make up no more than 10% of the essay.  Since the purpose  to is highlight and summarize key information, merely copying and  pasting from the case does not accomplish this goal. Please use your own  words and use quotations sparingly.
