This assignment invites students to synthesize what they have learned in this Unit. The essay is not an opinion piece; instead, it invites students to demonstrate what they have learned about the purposes and impact of monasticism, particularly the Benedictine Tradition.
Drawing from all of the readings for this Unit, including what you have learned about the mission of Jesus of Nazareth, Benedict of Nursia, and Benedictine monasticism:
    Write a essay (double-spaced) on The Monastic Vision.
o    Specifically, describe what the monastic vision is, how it affects the larger mission of the Church and how it impacts men and women even today.
o    Review your notes and what you have learned about the Catholic Benedictine Tradition. Remember that the Benedictine tradition is not separate from the Christian tradition. Rather, it is a way of living out the values and principles of this religion.
    As always, the essay should have a strong thesis statement, introduction and conclusion, and demonstrate your own thoughtful reflection.

Pink builds a case and comes up with some interesting insights about the value of intrinsic motivation. He argues that  ROWE is important as it raises the idea that goals must be achieved through people and leadership that relies heavily on intrinsic rewards to motivate employees.

However, some scholars claim that ROWE cannot be optimal without the presence of trust and  effective F2F communication.

Your thread must reflect critical thought. There are two philosophical reference points that form the basis for our government, and by extension, our governments role in securing our borders.  These are (1) the Holy Bible, and (2) principles of self-governance as expressed in our Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.  These principles were frequently articulated by our Founders and are provided for you in the document entitled American Founding Principles.  For every discussion topic, try to relate the course content to real-world applications with biblical perspectives and link back to at least one Founding principle. Also, a minimum of 1 source is referenced appropriately; cite any sources used.  More is better.

Using the 4 classical phases of disaster management, discuss how collaboration between public and private organizations can support phases one and two of the model. Choose a threat/hazard/disaster and describe the possible interactions and involvement of each organization. Consider specific agencies that could support desired goals. Be sure to link back to American Founding Principles as well references to the importance of private property in maintaining a balance of power between citizens and government (from the Balance of Power article).
