Reducing Misconduct

 

Using the information from chapter seven in 2 to 3 paragraphs, a minimum of 250 words evaluate and discuss ways to reduce police officer misconduct through better screening methods for new hires.  Also, explain how improved training and efficient monitoring, along with disciplinary actions when warranted, decreases officer misconduct.  Explain why hiring a college graduate over a candidate without a degree will improve the ethics of policing.  Also, explain the importance of effective training, and how this can reduce officer misconduct.

Type all Case Studies in Times New Roman 12pt font include the header, title page, and reference page; APA formatting is required in this course.  Use at least two reference sources one is your textbook, and one may be taken from the course or the Grantham Library. In this unit, you learned about sociological theories of crime. The course textbook and the unit lesson provide multiple ideas on the causes of criminal behavior, the sociological theories. For this assignment, you will compose an essay that explores this topic. To write your essay, complete the following steps: 

1) Analyze the sociological theories presented in this unit. 

2) Select five theories that you feel would benefit your community. Rank them in order of most effective to least effective. Describe how the theories could be applied to criminal behavior in your community. 

3) Take the theory that you believe would benefit your community most effectively and find four sources you can use to look at both sides of the issue, two supporting your choice and two not supporting your choice. Analyze and argue both sides of the theory selected. 

Your paper must be at least two pages in length. All parts of your essay should be composed in one, cohesive paper with an introduction and conclusion. Your essay must be formatted in APA style. A minimum of four academically accepted resources must be used to support your analyses. Any information from these sources should be cited and referenced in APA format.
