Due 2/9 By 15:00! Analyzing An Issue Or Event In Globalization Through The Lenses Of History And The Humanities

Analyze your issue/event through the lens of history, and address the following:

How does this issue/event interact with the history lens and impact social issues?
In what ways does the history lens help articulate a deeper understanding of the global issue(s) that inform your issue/event?

Next, analyze your issue/event through the lens of the humanities by exploring the following questions:

How is this issue/event portrayed creatively in global society? What is the message or commentary of this representation?

How does this representation interact with you in your personal and professional lives?

Note: You are completing two separate analyses: one from the history and one from the humanities. You must submit two papers in a single Word document.

The following critical elements must be addressed:

I. Lens Analysis: In this section of your assignment, you will analyze your issue/event through two of the four general education lenses.

  A. Analyze your artifact through the lens of the history for determining its impact on various institutions. Utilize evidence from research to support

your analysis.

  B. Analyze your artifact through the lens of humanities for determining its impact on various institutions. Utilize evidence and research to support

your analysis.

Assignment  should be submitted as two papers in a single Word document. The entire submission should be 24 pages in length, double-spaced, using 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins.

Critical Reflection Essay (3 Pages, APA)

Critical Reflection Exercise

Students are expected to have completed the assigned readings each week and be prepared to comment critically. Rather than providing mere summaries of course readings, students will be asked to analyze and synthesize information from the assigned readings while reflecting on their own lived experiences using personal examples, situations they observe in organizations and within their communities, and current events. Students will submit a three page, double-spaced critical reflection of the assigned readings.

One way to break a substitution cipher is to use frequency analysis. Let’s focus on the English language for now but the process works the same way for other languages. The character “e” occurs 12.7% in the English language and the letter “t” occurs 9.35% and the letter “a” is 8.2% of the time. So, you can count each character in the ciphered text, compute its frequency and start replacing it. After you complete the first say 4 characters, you may want to change your strategy. Can you explain why you want to stop after the first 4 characters? The two-character “of” is about 4.16% and “to” is about 2%. Now try three characters frequency.

After a period of time, you will be able to decipher most of the text. I am going to ask you to do your first significant homework using frequency analysis.
