Let man take full control of the Earth and transform it completely to his needs. This, many say, is happening anyway, so it’s futile to resist. Others would argue that it is morally wrong to allow most other species to be killed off and pushed to extinction, that what remains of healthy ecosystems—including forests and wildlife—should be protected and expanded upon, and that humanity should back off in its quest for “endless economic growth” and the expansion of the human population into every corner and crevice of the globe.
