Sharing Your Own Story

Part 1

Tell me your story. Please write your answer to the following questions.

Outline your story in simple terms beginning with your family background, your beliefs, and your lifestyles before you began following Jesus as you do now.
Family Background: What was growing up like for you?
Beliefs: What were your attitudes toward God, religion, and good and evil?
Lifestyle: What were the most important things in your life?
Explain any turning points (a crisis, an invitation, a relationship with another person, a response to a believing friend, reading the Bible, and so on) that caused you to consider committing your life to Jesus.
Explain what brought you to the point of decision. Then describe the moment you asked Jesus to come into your life.
Finally, honestly describe how your life has been changing since you started following Jesus?

Part 2

Share your story with someone else. Then tell me:

Who did you share your story with?
How long did you spend discussing these questions?
What did you learn, or take away, from this experience?

Part 3

Ask someone (it could be the same person) to tell you his or her story. You might want to prompt them with the same questions you used to tell your story.

Who did you interview?
How long did you spend discussing these questions?
What did you learn, or take away, from this experience? Please note: I do not expect you to tell me any personal/confidential information that may have been shared with you

Please complete all three parts, this is a free response paper, no sources are needed. You can make up the story, but try not to be too dramatic.

Written assignment 6

Follow the instructions in Listing 6-2 on page 121 to create and destroy a database. Before you create a new database, you will need a profile (PFILE) named initTest.ora in the directory from which you are running sql*plus (or specify the entire path with the file name). This file contains the single line db_name=TEST. This will create the simplest database possible. You also need to SET ORACLE_SID=TEST at the command prompt, before running SQLPLUS / as sysdba. You will know you started the correct instance if it says, “Connected to an idle instance.”  Don’t forget to SPOOL c:cis4210M6spool.txt as soon as you sign into sql*plus.
Submit your text document with the file name c:cis4210M6spool.txt .

*I have attached a photo of the instructions in Listing 6-2 on pg 121.

Official Misconduct

Official Misconduct

Prologue:

Today at noon, an undercover, Federal Agent, Hans Cuff arranged a briefing at the sheriffs department.  All the ATF agents, Grantham County Deputies, and University City Officers involved in the drug investigation regarding the large shipment of meth were present for this meeting.

Cuff informed the officers that the confidential informant, Mookie, called him this morning to fill him in on the details of the shipment of meth.  Mookie told Cuff to be at 123 Elm Street, University City, at 3:00 p.m.; this is when and where the delivery of meth will take place. After the briefing, Cuff was fitted with a wire so the other officers could hear what was transpiring in the house. All the officers received their instructions on where to post around the house and down the street so as not to draw attention to themselves.  At 2:45 p.m., Agent Cuff arrived at 123 Elm Street and knocked at the door.

Mookie answered the door and told Cuff to come inside; once Cuff stepped into the house, Mookie shut the door behind him.  All of a sudden, Dreadford grabbed Cuffs right arm and another male who Cuff did not know grabbed his left arm. Mookie put a gun to the back of Cuffs head and told him to kneel.

Cuff slowly kneeled to the floor; he said, The same thing happened to me in Vegas (This was the safe phrase to alert the other officers that Cuff was in trouble).  In no time at all, several officers kicked in the front and back doors, entered the house, and held all three suspects at gunpoint.  The officers arrested Mookie, Dreadford, and the other male identified as Pedro Ramirez without incident. After reading the suspects Miranda warnings, both Dreadford and Ramirez asked for an attorney, so the officers booked these two into the county jail.

Mookie was the only one who agreed to talk but only if he could get a deal.  Detective Stubblefield said he would speak to the county prosecutor and see what he could do.  However, the deal was dependent on the value of the information.  Mookie told Detective Stubblefield that the dispatcher dating Dreadford is the one who gave them all the confidential information on the city and countys drug investigations.  Mookie asked Detective Stubblefield if the information was good enough to get a deal.

Detective Stubblefield said, I believe it is.  Detective Stubblefield put Mookie into protective custody and booked him in the county jail where the correctional officers will make sure to segregate Mookie from other inmates.

Based on the information Mookie provided, Stubblefield received a warrant to search Badpennys house.  When the officers served the warrant, and arrested and charged Imogene Badpenny with possession of methamphetamines (felony), possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor), and official misconduct (misdemeanor) (using her position at the sheriffs office to access confidential information for personal gain).  While at Badpennys house, the officers uncovered evidence to collaborate Mookies story about the documents Badpenny obtained for Dreadford regarding the drug investigations.

After Badpennys arrest, the sheriff fired her, and with the loss of her job, Badpenny did not have enough money to hire an attorney.  During Badpennys arraignment, Judge Noble Hands had Badpenny fill out indigent paperwork to request a public defender and set her bond at $50,000.  Badpenny was not able to post bond given her financial situation, so she returned to the jail where Badpenny will stay until her next court appearance.

Assignment:

This week use the information in chapters 8 and 9 to complete a 2 to 3 – page paper, discussing the ethical system that explains why Badpennys gave Dreadford confidential information, and how indigency affects an offenders ability to receive competent council.  Also, analyze how conflicts of interest may occur with attorneys (both prosecution and defense) along with the judge in the above scenario.

*Hint: remember, Badpenny has worked for the sheriffs department for years and lives in the community; she probably knows all of the attorneys and judges.

Unit 10 Assignment

Assignment: Promotional Tools for a New Business

The following Course Outcome is assessed in this Assignment:

AB202-5: Recommend promotional tools to encourage customer loyalty.

Your Reading covered various promotional tools including sampling, couponing, premiums and other promotions, public relations, word of mouth, sponsorships, packaging, point of purchase (POP) promotions, signage, and personal selling. All of these promotional tools can be quite effective when selling a good or service. Using these promotional tools apply them to the following scenario as appropriate.

Read the scenario and then address the checklist items.

Scenario:

You are the new marketing assistant at a new business, Rent a Jewel, better known as RJs. This business involves a vault-like building with a mall store access area in a high end indoor shopping mall which has been incredibly busy as it is located near Washington, D.C. They are about to open a new store in London. The store grand opening will occur online while simultaneously occurring in-store in London. Customers can pick up the jewelry they choose from the companys website pictures. The jewelry includes watches of all shapes, sizes, and price points, jeweled handbags, and of course a typical array of jewelry from cheap to very expensive.

The jewelry rental involves the customer allowing their credit card number to be held until the jewelry is returned to the store. What are the benefits to the customer? The customer can avoid having to worry about expensive jewelry in their home, or insurance or deposit box costs to store it. As United States (U.S.) customers as well as many international customers are dressing up less and less, their need for expensive jewelry has dissipated with the exception of special occasions and wedding jewelry. This company allows the customer to rent jewelry that they would not normally own, as long as they cover the cost temporarily with a credit card. When the jewelry is returned, the rental fee is charged and their credit card information deleted unless they specifically request it be held for future use.

The formal grand opening for the London location will be next month online and in-store at the London location only. You are busy promoting this grand opening for the London location, on the company website, and across the Internet.

Checklist:

What promotional tools will you recommend to the owner of RJs that will promote customer loyalty and promote the London online and in-store grand opening?
What goals do you have for the store using these promotional tools?
How will personal selling be used in the company?
How can you build on the grand opening promotion of the London location to build brand awareness and customer loyalty?
