Reassessment of Client Risks and Needs

Read the Risk-Need-Responsivity Model for Offender Assessment and Rehabilitation 2007-06 article.

The client is a 32-year-old male who was released from incarceration 6 months ago. The client had previously been incarcerated for 2 years for two felony drug offenses due to possession and distribution of methamphetamine. He received treatment while incarcerated, but he relapsed and used methamphetamine 2 months after he was released. The client is positive for Hepatitis C, which he contracted while he was in prison. He was receiving medication for his condition until last month when he did not supply a required document to the Medicaid office on time. As a result, he lost his medical coverage.

The client has been married for 5 years, and he has a 3-year-old child. The client was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 28. The client has exhibited emotional outbursts and episodes of perpetrating domestic violence with his wife since his release from incarceration. The client obtained his GED at age 25, but he never attended college. The client also had a learning disorder of dyslexia during his adolescent years. He has minimal job skills, as he only worked at one job as a dishwasher for 2 months during his adult life. He primarily obtained income from selling drugs prior to incarceration.

The client is currently seeking employment, but he is experiencing difficulty obtaining employment due to his prior criminal conviction.

Create a mind map of the needs of the client that fit in each category. Specify 3 needs in each of the following categories:

    Health needs
    Social or relationship needs
    Problem-solving needs
    Emotional needs
    Belief or value needs
    Education or career needs

Create a second mind map of the risks of the client that fit in each category. Specify 3 risks in each of the following categories:

    Health risks
    Social or relationship risks
    Problem-solving risks
    Emotional risks
    Belief or value risks
    Education or career risks

Answer the following questions in a 700-word essay:

Why is it important to reassess the needs of a client after he or she is released from incarceration?
What are some ways by which a persons needs and risks can be mitigated to reduce the rate of recidivism once an offender is released from incarceration?

Format any citations according to APA guidelines.

Discussion Questions

1. Using the financial statements data in Exhibit 1, compute the following financial ratios for Take-Two Interactive and Software and discuss what major “red flags”, if any were present in Take-Two’s financial statements given these ratios. The following financial ratios are often used to assess the risk. Age of Accounts Receivable, Age of Inventory, Gross Profit percentage, Profit Margin percentage, Return on assets, Return on equity, Current ratio, Debt-to-equity ratio, and Quality-of-earnings ratio. The formulas for these ratios are provided here .
2. Identify audit tests that may be used as alternative audit procedures when a response is not received for a positive confirmation request. Discuss the quality of audit evidence yielded by these alternative procedures compared to that produced by audit confirmation procedures.

Instructions:

Read the given discussion questions carefully and provide your response to every question thoroughly, but succinctly, taking a position on the given discussion topics, supporting your argument or suggestions.

Police Discretion

Your paper will first define police discretion. Discuss the positive uses of discretion. Discuss what would happen with discretionary powers being abused. Do you think that a police department could exist with discretion being banned? Discuss discretion being used at different levels within a police department. How is discretion used in the patrol division, and how is it used in the detective division?

You should cite at least three references (books, periodicals, newspaper articles, etc…) used in writing your paper. Do not use your textbook as a reference. Your paper should be double spaced. You should use a Times Roman font, size 12. Place page numbers in the upper right corner of your pages. Page number 6 (six) of your paper should list works cited. Please follow the APA standards when citing sources.  References listed on the works cited page must be cited at least one time in the body of the report using APA styled citations.

Forms and Reports Response

Please respond to the following two questions. Use External Sources to support your answer. Note the answer does not need to be more than a paragraph but you may do so.

Problem 1:

In an article titled a field study of the software design process for large systems, it emphasizes the importance of analyzing the environment in which the system will be utilized (1988).  An older article yes, but we can always learn from the past as it helps us theorize on where we are today. The author emphasizes the difficulties in designing data systems in large companies and approached the problem by interviewing 17 large company CEOs for common issues; the response was communication, application of domain knowledge, bottlenecks and breakdowns.  Furthermore, fluctuations in customer requirements proved to be difficult in nailing down firm requirements, like trying to hit a moving target, and is a real challenge for many companies.  The impact is a domino effect in the design process as system analysts have to separate the environmental factors, emerging requirements, and current requirements (1988).  How would you approach this dilemma when designing your system forms and reports and whats the impact to testing and the usability assessment?

Problem 2:
Chapter 10 provides you a clearer understanding of forms and reports. They are an important part of the database application. The designer uses them to create an integrated application, making it easier for user to perform their task. Decision maker and clerical workers use from and report on a daily basis. Normally forms were used as input and reports were used to display results. One key to designing quality business processes is the delivery of the right information to the right people in the right format at the right time. This chapter presented a variety of guidelines such as the layout of fields, the use of titles, highlighting of data,  navigation between pages or screens, appropriate use and layout of tables and graphs, use of color, format of text and numeric data, avoidance of bias in information display, and achievement of usable forms and reports (Kunwar, 2011).

If you are a systems analyst. Which of the above variety of guidelines will you think is the most important?  Why. Which variety of guidelines is most likely to be overlooked by the system analyst?
