This results in nearly 650,000 people being released from prisons and over 7 million different individuals being released from jails in this country each year. However, approximately two out of every three people released from prison in the United States are re-arrested within 3 years of their release.

US Military

Description

Please expound upon my thesis provided below as well as utilize my resources:
1 resource is “The New Rules of War: Victory in the Age of Durable Disorder” by Sean McFate
2 other resources are attached.

Thesis: The United States military is seen as the most powerful military in the world and generally regarded as the winner of wars. However, throughout history, the United States has suffered some losses while winning others. Why does the United States win or lose? The most significant characteristics of successful warfare since 1945 has been the use of nuclear weapons, combined arms operations, guerrilla warfare, and overwhelming air dominance. As seen in WWII with the bombing of Hiroshima, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

Nuclear War

a. While the use of nuclear weapons during World War II is the only use of a nuclear weapon in an armed conflict, the impact significantly changed the way the United States and other nations look at nuclear weapons employment.

b. Nuclear weapons use was supposed to deter other nations; however, it seems to suggest that if one country had it, then others should also have the ability to use nuclear weapons. Thus, the race to create something similar or more dominant began as seen with the introduction of the ballistic missiles.

c. Though nuclear weapons weren’t used in Vietnam, the idea of using it as a method of its proliferation and deterrence seems to be enough to keep the war from becoming a war of annihilation.

Air Dominance.

a. Since WWII, air supremacy has been the key to winning battles and wars.

b. The 1973 Yom Kippur War displayed both the use of combined arms and overwhelming airpower. The Korean war once again showed the importance of airpower. Airpower enabled resupplying troops and conducting strategic bombing to deter North Korean and China from coming further into South Korea.
