Prompt for Ihara Saikakus Life of a Sensuous Woman ( Visual Analysis)

Blog Prompt for Ihara Saikakus Life of a Sensuous Woman ( Visual Analysis)
In his  text Life of a Sensuous Woman (1668).Ihara Saikaku writes in the tradition or genre of ukiyo-zoshi or books of the floating world, a form of vernacular fiction depicting life, foibles, and adventures in the pleasure centers or red light districts of Edo Japan. Before the  ukiyo-zoshi emerged there were first ukiyo-e or wood block prints of life in the floating world. The visuals came first, then the narratives, which suggests that there is a relationship between the two.

For this blog post you have 3 images of ukiyo-e .  Choose ONE and offer three annotations interpreting the image and connecting back to the text.  This link will connect you to the resoruce for these images in the Library of Congress. Note, for this post you should either quote from the text and richly describe the image. The objective is to connect the visual tradition back to the writing and consider how they are similar and/or distinct. The same blog post requirements apply.

THIS SUMIZURI-E, OR MONOCHROME PRINT, IS UNSIGNED BUT THE STYLE RESEMBLES THAT OF THE EARLY MASTER HISHIKAWA MORONOBU (D. 1694) AND HIS SCHOOL. THE YOUNG WOMAN DOING LAUNDRY BY THE RIVER DISPLAYS THE BROAD CHEEKS AND LONG JAW ASSOCIATED WITH MORONOBU, AND THE PRINT AS A WHOLE EXHIBITS THE COMBINATION OF THIN AND THICK WAVY CALLIGRAPHIC LINES TYPICAL OF MORONOBU. THE SUBJECT OF THE PRINT IS KUME THE IMMORTAL, A RENOWNED RECLUSE WHO MASTERED THE POWER TO TRAVEL THROUGH THE AIR AT WILL. THE SIGHT OF A YOUNG WOMAN BARING HER LEGS WHILE WASHING CLOTHES CAUSED KUME TO LOSE HIS CONCENTRATION AND FALL FROM THE SKY.

KNOWN FROM EXAMPLES IN THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO, THE HIRAKAWA MUSEUM OF ART IN YOKOHAMA, AND MANY OTHER COLLECTIONS, THIS FAMOUS PRINT IS THE FRONTISPIECE OF A SET OF TWELVE EROTIC PRINTS. THIS PRINT BEARS THE SIGNATURE AND SEAL OF TORII KIYONOBU I (CA. 1664-1729). KIYONOBU WAS THE FOUNDER OF THE TORII SCHOOL OF ARTISTS, A DEFINING FORCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF UKIYO-E DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY.

THIS PRINT BY TORII KIYOMASU (FL. LATE 1690S-EARLY 1720S) DEPICTS A WOMAN TRAMPLING WHAT ARE MOST LIKELY LOVE LETTERS, SCATTERED AT HER FEET. THE WOMAN IS A COURTESAN, IDENTIFIED BY THE FACT THAT HER OBI SASH IS TIED IN FRONT, AND PROBABLY ALSO BY THE BACKGROUND WILLOWS, WHICH WERE PLANTED ALONG THE BANKS OF THE PLEASURE QUARTERS.

Many polynomial equations can be solved quite simply when the first step consists of factoring. Factoring is an essential skill to be mastered in an algebra course. While there are a number of different techniques that can be used to factor polynomial functions of all types, for our purposes we are going to focus on factoring quadratic polynomials of the form ax + bx + c. A number of different methods have been introduced to help students find the factors of quadratic polynomials. Some such methods of factoring ax + bx + c are Factoring by Grouping, Box Method, Star Method/Diamond Method/X-method, and Tic-Tac-Toe Method.

Respond

  1. Research one of the methods listed above or another method of your choice for factoring trinomials of the form ax + bx + c.
  2. Download and open the [DOWNLOAD] provided.
  3. State the method you are using and explain the process of factoring a trinomial in words, modeling the process by using examples that contain all the steps to factor the trinomial.
    • Note: A student who has little knowledge of factoring should be able to follow your steps in order to factor any trinomial using the explanation you provide.
    • Your guide must include a minimum of two examples of factoring trinomials using your chosen method.
    • At least one of your examples must include a trinomial of the form ax + bx + c, with a > 1 (e.g. 4x – 15x – 25, or 2x + 11x + 5).
  4. Verify that your factors are correct by expanding the expression, combining like terms, and comparing to the initial trinomial.
  5. Make sure to cite the sources you used for researching your preferred method.
  6. Submit your completed template to the discussion forum.

Nurse Leader Interview

Instructions

Interview a nurse leader (chief nurse, associate chief nurse, director, supervisor, manager), a masters prepared nurse with leadership responsibilities (nurse educator, nurse quality specialist, nurse risk manager, nurse case manager, etc.), or advanced practice nurse with leadership responsibilities (clinical nurse specialist, nurse anesthetist, nurse midwife, or nurse practitioner).

Analyze the leaders role as it relates to a minimum of five of the major course concepts addressed (ethics in leadership, emotional intelligence, communication, conflict resolution, change theory, cultural competence/diversity, labor relations management, leadership models, management theory, motivational theory, Nurse of the Future competencies, interprofessional collaboration, and team building).

Provide a narrative summary of your interviewees responses to each of the concepts (but not a verbatim account) of the interview. Incorporate references to provide support and analyze the concepts you discussed. Include your impression of congruence between the leaders self-reflection and your personal observations of demonstrated leadership. Include the following in your paper:

Comprehension: Introduce the leader, his or her credentials, title, job responsibilities, placement on the organizational chart/reporting responsibilities, education, experience, mentors, and pathway to their current role.

Application: Describe the predominate model/theory of leadership used by this leader. Describe their style of leadership.

Analysis/Synthesis: Clarify and illustrate the leaders level of authority and influence within the organization. Discuss their sense of empowerment and efforts to empower others. Describe their intra- and extra-organizational responsibilities.

Compare your personal philosophy/style/model of leadership with this leader and share whether or not expectations/perceptions of this leader were accurate.

Evaluation: Summarize the leaders behavior, strengths, successes, challenges and weaknesses.

Your paper should be 9 to 10 pages long, not counting cover page or references list, and should utilize 10-12 scholarly references.
