identify the thesis of each article, and figure out how each author uses evidence to support a thesis.

To further our discussion, I’d like all of you to re-read the articles by Yung (2008) and Yu (2014). Musical examples cited in Yu (2014) are uploaded to Canvas. This time, I’d like you to follow the argument of each article. In this round of reading, I want you to identify the thesis of each article, and figure out how each author uses evidence to support a thesis. I’d like the class to identify ways to further the research presented in each article. The purpose of this round of reading is to develop critical reading skills and critical thinking skills.

Searching and recording the crime

The reason a crime scene search is conducted is to establish the parameters of the crime being investigated and to identify and seize evidence at the scene that will connect the suspect(s) and victim(s) to the scene. It will establish linkage between evidence items and their associative value to each other. It will help identify what actions occurred at the crime scene during the commission of the offense(s). It will also identify items that are missing from the scene or items that are in the crime scene that should not be there. The crime scene process helps identify the methods used (modus operandi) at the scene by the offender(s).

For the purpose of this assignment, you are an investigator on your way to a murder crime scene. Research the following points, and write a 46-page paper fully explaining each point:

The new Crime Scene Investigator assigned to work for you has never processed a homicide scene before. While en route to the scene, you discuss with your new partner the details you were given by the dispatcher. You discuss methods of crime scene searching with each other.
You have been provided 2 crime scene sketches. Click here for interior and here for exterior. Determine (based on the sketches) your suggested plans for searching the crime scene(s) in this scenario.
Based on the sketches, signify the areas to be searched and the evidence that might be associated with this crime scene.
If you had other personnel available to assist you and your new partner, what directives and assignments would you provide them with to assist in your crime scene search process?
Be sure to reference all sources using APA style.

Conduct research from scholarly sources on each side of your issue and write a paper that includes the following:

Introduction (approximately 100 words)
Explain your topic and state the specific question that you are addressing.

Presentation of an Argument
Describe the scholarly source on one side of the issue and summarize the key points made. (approximately 100 words)

Present what you see as the main argument from that source in standard form, with the premises listed above the conclusion. (approximately 100 words)

Evaluate the quality of the reasoning in this source. You may address questions such as: How adequately the article supports the premises with research and how strongly the premises of the argument support the truth of the conclusion. (approximately 200 words)

Presentation of an Opposing Argument
Describe the scholarly source on the other side of the issue and summarize the key points made.

Evaluation of Arguments in Non-Scholarly and Scholarly Sources (approximately 200 words)

Discuss the differences in the quality of the reasoning or in the degree of support in the sources that you analyzed.

Some specific types of questions you might address here include: Who is the target audience? What types of motives may be influencing these authors? Discuss any logical fallacies in any of the sources.

Conclusion (approximately 50 words)
Reflect on how this activity might influence how you conduct research in the future.
