Undocumented Students

UndoThe number of undocumented children in the U.S. is increasing in numbers and educational leaders must understand how to support their educational success by addressing their unique challenges. For this discussion, you will focus on the case study In All Fairness in Chapter 8. This case study focuses on the controversy surrounding legal and illegal immigrant families, children and public school attendance, as well as the concept of silent tracking.

Questions

If Alejandro came back to the school with a birth certificate (foreign), no social security card, and a letter from the local homeless shelter as proof of residence

  1. How would you explain to the office staff that he should be admitted?
  2. What laws support your actions?
  3. What resource(s) could the school provide to support this family?
  4. What is one resource that you could share with your peers to support best practices in working with undocumented children and families?

*Resources may be from yearly conferences, websites, leaders in the field, peer-reviewed journal articles, blogs, etc., that support the issue at hand. Through this collaborative effort, you will be able to add resources from multiple perspectives that you can later include in your final assignment. Be sure to include any relevant information including the full APA reference entry and a brief description of how the resource supports leaders/administrators in that issue.

Module 03 Course Project- Defining Your Offering

NOTE: You will use the same product throughout the duration of the course project, so please choose wisely! I have done project 1 and project 2 using the same product name.

You selected a product and you’ve identified a target audience. Now, it’s time to define the specific details of your offering!

For this assignment, create a 5-6 page paper (not including title page) that contains the following information:

  1. Include a concept statement. Concept statements are useful during the research phase as a means to obtain feedback on a new product idea from potential consumers before bringing the product to market. A concept statement must include the following key information:

    • Headline (This can be as simple as “Introducing XYZ Product!”)
    • Product Description (Include a short statement describing the key features of your product.)
    • Value Proposition (What value does your product commit to deliver to consumers? What are the key benefits of using your product? What problem does your product help consumers solve?)
    • “Reason to Believe” (Why should consumers believe that your product will deliver the value it promises? Be sure to provide facts here, not “fluffy” language!)
    • Suggested Retail Price
    • Image/Product Shot (Provide a drawing or mockup photo of your product.)

  2. Include a summary that explains the rationale for each component in the concept statement (for example, why you included certain product features, why the specified price was chosen, why the key benefits highlighted are the most important ones, etc.).

  3. Describe two ways that you will do market research to identify who your target audience is. Discuss the type of market research, how you will implement the research, and why you selected those types of research.

  4. Create a persona that represents your target market based on your research.

  5. Create a SWOT analysis for your product to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.

Include a title page, and proofread your final assignment for correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. For more information about APA, please visit the Online Library, which is available through the Resources tab.

If you need assistance with using Microsoft Word, please visit the Video Tutorials page in the Course Materials folder.

Submit your completed assignment by following the directions linked below. Please check the Course Calendar for specific due dates.

Save your assignment as a Microsoft Word document. (Mac users, please remember to append the “.docx” extension to the filename.) The name of the file should be your first initial and last name, followed by an underscore and the name of the assignment, and an underscore and the date. An example is shown below:

50 min. It explains the decision process to Launch, and the fate of the managers and engineers involved.

Follow the links above, or any other source regarding the 1986 Challenger Disaster and answer the following questions y complete sentences. You are free to discuss the issues with your classmates, but you will need to upload your OWN work.

Answer the following questions (mostly from Holtzapple & Reece Foundations of Engineering p53)

1.  Should the Morton-Thiokol engineers have blown the whistle and announced to the press that NASA management was endangering the lives of the crew members and risking destruction of the space shuttle? Why?

2. No launch is completely safe; space travel is inherently risky. The astronauts accepted this risk when they volunteered for the job. Should they have been informed that the risks were higher for this particular launch? Why?

3. Of the three main moral theories ethical egoism, utilitarianism, and right analysis which moral theory were the Morthon-Thiokol and NASA management using when they made the decision to launch over the objections of the engineers? In retrospect, we could judge their actions to be wrong. What moral theories are we applying?

4. Is it unfair to place blame on NASA managers? After all, every launch has risk and someone has to make the decision to launch? Would there have been any consequence if the launch would have been successful?

5. Should the engineers be faulted for developing an inferior design? Perhaps they should have incorporated heating tape into the joints if low temperatures were known to be a problem.

6. Should an escape mechanism be installed on space shuttles (or any space craft) even though it imposes a severe weight and reduces the payload capability?

The issues with whistleblowers. Read this article.

7.  Assume you are a hiring manager in a Mechanical Structural company developing rocket buster for NASA. Using the 3 main moral theories to determine whether or not you would hire Mr. Boisjoly. Explain your answer. From Mr. Boisjoly point, could he has done things differently to avoid the complete ousting of his career as a structural engineer?

Debate the traditional and proposed domains of nursing.
Debate the value of adding concepts to nursings traditional metaparadigm.  Explain why you believe or do not believe it is important to examine these domains using a philosophical or theological worldview.  How does it change the approach to knowledge and truth, based on a Christian, pantheistic, or humanistic worldview?
discuss the traditional nursing paradigm (person, health, environment, and nursing) and compare it with the domains presented in Meleis and Shelly & Miller.
