IT Security related law (homeland security act 2002)

The assignments that have been designed for the semester have involved building skill and confidence in obtaining software tools and gaining some proficiency in employing them to achieve specific, demonstrable security goals. The course project for INF306 does not involve a practical implementation, but rather, is more policy oriented. It will consist of a research paper on a specific IT security related law. Your specific topic will be selected from one of the 40 (or so) entries in Table 6.1 (page 91 in the current edition Kindle version) from the textbook (you may choose one not listed, but only with explicit prior permission of the instructor). This must be submitted to Blackboard for grading by 11:59 PM on the due date (check course calendar).

The body of the paper must reflect an understanding of the material presented in this course as well as an understanding of the law being researched. The paper must include a history of the law which provides a rationale as to why it was adopted. There must be discussion of the CIA or Parkerian Hexad models elements and types of risk management strategies that the law addresses and the controls it advises or provides. As appropriate, you will also address the organizational, personnel, and technical IT related impacts of both the underlying problem(s) and the law as solution. You may discuss cases involving the law and/or similar international laws.

The paper:

Your paper must consist of the following:

At least five (5) pages of written content: title pages, table of contents, diagrams, and reference pages do not count for content.
.pdf document
Formatted using US letter sized pages (811)
Double spaced
12pt Times New Roman font
One inch margins
Your paper must include a complete list of APA formatted bibliographic references and include in-text citations as appropriate. You will provide at least six intellectually rigorous referenced sources in addition to the law you will be researching. The references page does not count toward your page count.

Telling An Effective Story

Please use the following scenario, and attachments provided to complete order.

Scenario
You used to be a team leader at a video game company. That company had created dozens of games over the last number of years. But suddenly they had a huge success, creating a game that was downloaded, for free, by millions of people it was an instant sensation. People were clamoring to buy commercial products (toys, plushies, calendars, and others) based on the characters in the game, but the company had no plan for such an event, and as such lost millions of dollars in potential commercial sales.

Now, youve been hired on at a different video game development company. Based on these facts, craft a story to convince your new employer that your company must invest in a new type of team in order to make the most of any sudden success.

Facts:
1.    You previously worked at Acme Smart Phone Games (ASPG). They created Wittle Pig, a tremendously successful video game. You were part of that team. The popularity of the game soared, and people were asking to buy commercial products based on the characters. No one at the company had any idea how to get products developed and available for customers. By the time they got some products out for sale, the popularity of the game had faded, and they didnt sell very much.

2.    Your new employer has a team of 50 app developers, and a small marketing department that is located in a different building. Their job is mostly to get the finished games available on Android and IOS, and buy advertisements to solicit downloads.

3.    Your company has not yet sold any commercial products for any games, though they have some nice company T-shirts with your own fun cartoon character logo.
Now, think about how you could use these facts to inform, educate and inspire your leadership. How can you convince them to restructure your current team in a way that anticipates success and prepares to commercialize your first, and subsequent, successful gaming apps?

Diversimilarity

Description

Before you start working on this Learner Activity, read R4 (article on diversimilarity) carefully. This Learner Activity is based on that article and the key focus is to identify similarities and differences between you and another individual.

Select a person in this class or any other class (or work group) who is very different from you on at least two dimensions of personal identity identified by Loden (refer to R5 for Loden’s dimensions of personal identity).

Describe yourself and your interviewee in terms of personal identity dimensions.

Identify the differences in values, attitudes, behaviours or other factors between you and the other member that arise because of the difference between you (on the dimension of personal identity). For example, if the person chosen is older than you are, what are the differences between you due to the age factor? How would these differences affect your job/school performance/expectations?

Now, identify the personality dimensions on which you are similar. What do those similarities mean? What commonalities can you find? Try to focus on job or school-related issues and elaborate on how the commonalities and differences would affect your work behaviors/expectations.

What have you learned from doing this exercise? NOTE: The answers to the first three questions can be common to both reports, but you should submit individual responses to the fourth question. You must try to relate concepts from R4 to this Learner Activity.

technology policy paper

In this version, identify a basic problem in computer ethics … in which computer technology is essentially involved and there is uncertainty about what to do and even about how to understand the situation (Moor, 1985, p267). Provide historical context for this problem, identify the conceptual vacuum, and identify the policy vacuum. Your paper should be between 1000 and 1100 words in length not including the bibliography; place the word count in parentheses at the end of the paper

includes at least six separate peer-reviewed journal articles.
