TBD (Based on selection of writer)

You may choose any subject from any of the ten (10) chapters that we will study this semester.  I would recommend that you do an outline. You may submit the outline to me for approval, but you are not required to do that. Topics must be legal topics, so you can use case law, statute books, text books, or any legal treatise or legal opinions that you can find on the subject. Be sure to use proper citation form

Professional Association Membership

Examine the importance of professional associations in nursing. Choose a professional nursing organization that relates to your specialty area, or a specialty area in which you are interested. In a 750-1,000 word paper, provide a detailed overview the organization and its advantages for members. Include the following:

  1. Describe the organization and its significance to nurses in the specialty area. Include its purpose, mission, and vision. Describe the overall benefits, or “perks,” of being a member.
  2. Explain why it is important for a nurse in this specialty field to network. Discuss how this organization creates networking opportunities for nurses.
  3. Discuss how the organization keeps its members informed of health care changes and changes to practice that affect the specialty area.
  4.  Discuss opportunities for continuing education and professional development.

Melnyk, Fineout-Overhold, Gallagher-Ford, and Stillwell (2011) describe how the EBP team at the hospital scheduled a series of presentations to introduce the new RRT policy by rotating the days and times of the in-service to capture as many direct care clinicians as possible so that all clinicians are educated on the new policy. Also, each hospital unit is asked to appoint a volunteer to deliver the presentation to any clinicians who missed it. Posters are created, and buttons designed as visual triggers to remind staff to implement the new policy. Melnyk et al. (2011) state that dissemination of evidence alone doesn’t typically lead clinicians to make a sustainable change to EBP, but having unit-based champions reinforce the new policy would help.

Public Health Summaries and Analysis

TASK # 1

Id like you to create a list of 10-12 links then write up a small summary- about migraine information that a patient can use to learn basic information about existing treatments and support groups. Likely Mayo Clinic will have what we want.

These links are so an phone operator can quickly access vetted links to give patients or share info from the with patients.

TASK # 2
Then do the same thing for cancer, create a list of 10-12 links then write up a small summary- a bit trickier of course because cancer has numerous subtypes, but create a list that an operator can quickly turn to to help a patient on the phone.

TASK # 3
After lists are created please create summaries and draw up sensible solutions as to the disease states below.

Please incorporate simple lifestyle behaviors such as eating healthy fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains, herbs, and superfoods, hence less reliance on the medical system and our doctors by maintaining an internal locus of control.

Please provide an explanation as to what internal locus of control is and external locus of control and provide solutions that can be given to patients seeking medical advice that goes beyond the standard of health care.

These are large national organizations that we should be observing what they do right (and wrong) and adjust accordingly. Please assess information in your summaries.

More importantly, we should know what they are doing and focusing on because we cover all diseases. Please include this information in your summary.

TASK # 4

Please provide special dates related to the medical system and health/wellness – create a framework based on Awareness Months and holidays (referencing the list of disease states above for 2020) and create something each member can use to build a social media plan.

So don’t build a car, build an engine. Please include any celebrities you find suffering from certain diseases, please document their birthday for means of social sharing.
