Efficiency & Cost of Production (400-600 words) APA format w/references

Because the decision about relocating manufacturing operations to the United States is so important, the board of directors at AutoEdge continues to systematically discuss every aspect of the situation.

The following week, CEO Lester Scholl meets you for coffee to discuss next week’s board meeting.

“I’m hearing good things about you,” he says. “Ingrid and George tell me you’ve been very responsive and helpful.”

“That’s good to hear,” you say. “I’ve enjoyed working with them.”

“We’re both busy, so I’ll get right to the point,” he says. “One of the main objectives of any business is to be efficient. Without efficiency, the company is essentially losing money. Am I right?”

“Absolutely,” you say.

“What must AutoEdge do,” he says, “to obtain economies of scale with production? How do we know that it has achieved economies of scale? Conversely, how do we know if it is achieving diseconomies of scale?”

“That’s a good question,” you say. “I can understand why you ask.”

But before you can respond, Lester’s cell phone rings. After a minute, he ends the call and stands.

“I have to get back to the office to handle an emergency,” he says. “Would you send me an e-mail with an answer to my questions, please?”

“No problem,” you say. “I’ll get it to you before I leave work this afternoon.”

“I appreciate it,” he says. “Thanks.”

Western and Eastern Medical Practices

For this Discussion, review this weeks Learning Resources including the Varying Philosophies of Medical Care handout. Research complementary and alternative stress management approaches in the Walden Library and on the website for the National Institutes of Healths National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) (). Select a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) discussed at NCCAM. Consider how the CAM you selected might effectively reduce stress. Reflect on any contraindications that might exist with regard to its use.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 3 a brief description of the complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) you selected. Then, explain how this CAM is effective in reducing stress. Finally, explain any contraindications or cautions with this type of stress management strategy. Use the current literature to support your response.

Managing a Virtual Team

Read the discussion question on Page 71 of the Levin text. Assume you are this person who is managing a virtual team for the first time in your career. As noted in the discussion question, you want to make sure your project is a success and also that your team members enjoy working in the virtual environment. Answer the questions posed on page 72 of the text. Also, assume that your organization has now acquired two subsidiary companies located in different time zones.

CRITICAL NOTE: The third paragraph of the case study states that “…your company does not have a video conferencing system, and most communications will be asynchronous except for occasional conference calls held at pre-arranged times.” This is a rather dated situation. Given the ubiquitous availability of inexpensive or even free video conferencing and other team collaboration tools, please assume that such tools will be available and that your teams can do synchronous video conferencing and other real-time collaborations using these tools.

Prepare a paper addressing these issues and submit it. As a guideline, your paper should be five to seven pages. Reference any other sources you consult.
