Behavioral and Social-Cognitive Approaches to Forming Habits

Create a 12- to 15-slide presentation analyzing the formation of habits using behavioral and social-cognitive approaches. Your presentation should cover the following areas:

  • Analyze one of your habits. How did you develop this habit? Were there role models for this habit? Which people influenced the adoption of this habit?
  • Why do you continue it? Has there been a time when you have attempted to break this habit?
  • Use the behavioral personality theory to explain why you have this habit.
  • Describe components of social-cognitive theory that explain why the habit formed.
  • Develop a plan that applies operant conditioning to change this habit.
  • Between the behavioral and social-cognitive theories, which one do you find best explains your personality?

Include detailed speaker notes on each slide, along with title and reference slides.

Provide 3 to 4 references.

Format any citations in your presentation according to APA guidelines.

Vaccination records

In 350-450 words, respond to the following prompt. Be sure to have citations and references in your post.

PROMPT
The vaccine registry in Texas (ImmTrac) brings together information submitted by physician offices, hospitals, and public health departments when they provide immunizations. These individual records are aggregated to give us a picture of the overall number of children who have been vaccinated in the State of Texas and the nation. Families can opt out of getting vaccinations for children by submitting a conscientious exemption, typically for religious reasons. This information can be very valuable during outbreaks of illness. Knowing where pockets of unvaccinated children live can help the Department of State Health Services focus their efforts. While vaccines are very safe, in rare instances there are adverse events. Because vaccines are often required to participate in public events (like school) it is important to continue to ensure their safety. Information about Notifiable Conditions helps the State of Texas track the number of people who become ill with Vaccine Preventable illnesses.

1) Visit The Infectious Disease Control Unit website at the Texas Department of State Health Services, and read about the following:

Notifiable Conditions – https://www.dshs.texas.gov/idcu/investigation/conditions (Links to an external site.)
Electronic Laboratory Reporting – https://www.dshs.texas.gov/IDCU/investigation/ELR/Electronic-Laboratory-Reporting.doc (Links to an external site.)
2) Visit ImmTrac2 at Texas Department of State Health Services and look over the conscientious exemptions data (Links to an external site.).

Post to the discussion board describing this data. Investigate the sources of the data. What are some factors impacting the quality and reliability/completeness of the data? Also, look at trends or points in the data. Why do certain counties have higher numbers of vaccine conscientious exemptions, especially varying rates in counties that are close together like Denton, Dallas, and Tarrant Counties?

PCE Beginning of Life

Beginning of Life

In many ways, this is the most important section, as much of what we think about medicine and human beings flows from our considerations on this issue. This section must include the following:

1. A statement on the moral status of the unborn: person, organism, or unknown. Include your overall view of fetal development in relation to the moral status of the unborn.

2. What does it mean to be human person? What are the necessary conditions that makes one a person?

3. Your general view on the moral permissibility of abortion.

4. Any justifiable exceptions to item 3 above, with reasons for exceptions.

5. Your view on imperiled newborns and infanticide: Is it ever justifiable? When and for what reasons.

Liberalism and Marxism economy

You are not expected to do any outside research or reading, but you can cite arguments, ideas, and examples from lecture and optional, recommended readings. References to material from readings or lecture and any short direct quotations must be properly cited. All work, wording, and ideas that are not cited must be your own.

Ideologies are formulated to organize not just political and social life, but also economic systems. Liberalism and Marxism each advanced ideas about how the economy should be organized in an ideal society, what types of economic freedoms people should have, and what the roles of different individuals or classes might be. Compare and contrast the liberal and Marxist positions, then choose one of the two and discuss the potential flaws or downsides in its economic vision. Formulate an argument and support it using examples, from readings and lecture, of authors arguments and real-world cases.
