According to cultural relativists, whatever moral values a culture holds, those moral values are correct for every member of that culture.  One consequence of this theory is that cultures can never make moral progress.  The moral values of a culture can change over time, but they cannot get better or worse.  After all, the moral values at an earlier time were correct (simply by being the moral values of the culture) and then they change to a newer, equally correct set of moral values.  To change from one correct set of values to a different correct set of values does not allow any improvement or decline in moral values.  Consider the moral values held by our own Western culture in the past and today.  Do you think that there is any evidence of moral progress or decline?  Defend one of the following views: Western culture is more moral today than in the past; Western culture is less moral today than in the past; or, Western culture is equally moral today compared to the past (neither better nor worse).  Offer evidence to support your choice.  (5 sentence minimum)

Selecting the Project Life Cycle

Write a one to two page follow-up paper, which each student will submit as an individual written assignment. In the paper, state whether or not you agree with the debate proposition. You may use arguments provided in the debate itself to support your choice but you may also draw on other factors not discussed during the debate, such as content in the assigned reading for the session or points mentioned during the post-debate discussion. Students who served on the debate teams are not required to support the stance assigned to them for the debate. They may instead, if they choose, support the other side. Those who were not debate team members are not required to support whatever position they took in class. You are free to change your mind upon further reflection! Students may also use other sources to support their stance in their papers. You may even ask other students or even people you work or have worked with in the past for their opinions If you do reference a third- party source, please be sure to list its name and provide a link to it if it is available on the Internet or in the Bobst Librarys digital archives.

 Throughout this course, I learned a lot that can benefit me within the position that I hold right now. In my current position, I handle all the benefits  and billing with our carriers. I work in the casino industry so there are over 1,200 employees. This course allowed me to learn more about benefits as far as legal requirements and more. I was also able to learn a lot about the compensation system and evaluate my company’s compensation plan. I would say that the most beneficial would have to be learning about the different pay units such as pay grades, job codes, and more. I feel that this course will help me in my career in many different ways. Being able to apply the knowledge you learn, to your day to day tasks can help provide better understanding to some situations. I will actually be working on merit increases this coming year and this class has helped me to understand the background of merit increases. In my opinion, the knowledge I gained from this course will me to perform better within my position because now I have all the background information an be able to talk about it versus just completing my task. I also feel that I learned a lot from this class personally because I can use it to evaluate my own position and how my employer is treating me.

The most significant topics that I learned more about in this class is pay structures. It was very interesting to learn about the different pay structures and when as well as how they should be implemented. One system that I enjoyed learning about and thought was very useful was the internal consistent compensation system. This system is very important to learn about because it defines the relative value of each job as well as provide job descriptions among all jobs within an organization. I believe as I move forward into a career of Human Resource Management, it will be important to advise and create pay structures. Also, learning more about the difference between legal and discretionary pay structures was also very useful. It is important to invest in employees. Providing benefits that will keep employees engaged and motivated to perform at a higher level will result in high productivity among the organization. There were many useful tools that I learned in this class and was able to apply to our signature assignment. All of the topics we discussed will be useful in the future when pursing a job in the field.
