Interpersonal Communication

Use the ladder of abstraction to describe the relationships between perception, communication and action in one interpersonal encounter in your life. First, describe the situation as fully as you can-remember, I was not there, so no you will need to provide enough detail that I understand what was happening. Next, describe the behaviors and environmental cue you noticed. Finally, identify the way you labeled what was happening and others who were there. Now consider alternate selective perception you might have made and how they might have influenced your labels and actions. Would you differently if faced with this situation again? Your paper should be a 2-3 page paper citing specific examples and providing detailed analysis incorporation reading and textbook material. If outside sources are used, proper citation of the source should be included CLICK THE LINK BELOW   https://homeofwriters.com/interpersonal-communication/ ‎

Assessing Affirmative Action Policies

In a 3-4-page paper, explore Affirmative Action as it relates to race and employment or college admissions. Review an organization you are familiar with (it can be your former high school, CSU-Global, or another college/university, your current employer, or an organization you would like to work for one day) and assess how well they adhere to Affirmative Action policies.

In your paper, provide an analysis of the debates around Affirmative Action as outlined in your reading as well as in the NCSL (Links to an external site.) website. Do you see these debates reflected in the organization you chose to analyze? As a tip, every organization should have a “statement of Affirmative Action” that is publicly posted on their website. Review the organization’s policy and discuss how well the organization adheres to the policies. Are there areas that come up in your review that indicate issues? What are they?

  • Although Affirmative Action also impacts women workers, college athletes, and members of other groups, for this assignment, we will only focus on marginalized people of color. If you decide to review a college or university, be sure to consider their admissions policies. This is where you will see whether Affirmative Action policies are followed.
  • The trick in this assignment is to not choose a side—this is not about your opinion (editorial), rather about your ability to research and understand a policy and how well an organization follows that policy (analysis). If you are at a loss on an organization to choose, you can simply do an Internet search with the words “Affirmative Action and Employment policies” and a number of options will come up for you.
  • It may be helpful to review Affirmative Action policies regarding education and employment and complete the readings for this week before completing the assignment (Chapter 10.6: “Race & Ethnicity in the 21st Century”).

Instructions:

  • Write a 3-4-page paper or about 1500 words, not including the title and reference pages, which are required.

Learning Theories And Diversity

Assessment Instructions

Note: Assessments in this course build on each other and must be completed in sequential order.

It is important to consider the role of diversity and learning environments when selecting appropriate theories and approaches for a desired learning outcome. For this assessment, you will implement these considerations in an educational environment of your choosing.

Preparation

  • Take time to review educational theories that you have studied in prior courses or used in your work. Do additional research on educational theories and approaches as necessary.
  • Optional: Practice implementing these considerations in the Vila Health challenge provided in the Resources before beginning your work here.

Instructions

For this assessment, you will create a 5–7-page high-level teaching plan in which you do the following:

  • Select a topic for a course that you would like to teach in an educational environment. (For example, maybe you would like to be a nursing instructor in an institution of higher learning, a staff development educator in a clinical facility, or a patient educator in a hospital.) Briefly describe your course and the environment that you will utilize for teaching. Also describe the intended audience for your course.
  • Select an educational theory that you could use to guide the development of your course. Describe the key points of the theory you selected and explain why you think this theory fits the topic, audience, and context of your course.
    • Be sure to cite textbooks or articles from peer-reviewed journals to support your choice.
  • Identify and discuss potential diversity in the group that you anticipate teaching. (Diversity can include multiculturalism, age, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, Limited English Proficiency (LEP), or other cultural barriers that you feel could impact your learning environment.)
  • Use current research to describe how you will address these issues in your learning environment.
  • Describe how you will manage conflict in the classroom that may arise from the anticipated diversity among learners.

Additional Requirements

  • Format: 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font, double-spaced in Microsoft Word.
  • Length: 5–7 pages, plus a title page and a references page.
  • Use correct APA format, including running head, page numbers, and a title page.
  • Writing should be free of grammar and spelling errors that distract from content.
