The police and citizens often have different viewpoints about community policing. Community policing can be very labor intensive and the police of often have numerous different types of pressure on them from a variety of locations within the jurisdiction.

For this week’s assignment you are to evaluate how a police agency should deal with the multitude of different types of requests for service that they have and still be able to engage in a robust community-policing effort. Assess how a well-functioning community-oriented policing program can lessen the stress on law enforcement manpower. Determine how the police and citizen groups can effectively communicate with each other.

Write a 2 page APA style paper.  Only the body of the paper will count toward the word requirement (title page and references are in addition to the 2 pages)

In your paper, cite at least 2-3 references using the APA style guide format for in-text citation.

Write a 500 or more word paper that provides a critical analysis and evaluation of the following questions.

·  What are some of your ascribed, achieved, and master statuses?

·  How are these different from your parents or grandparents?

·  Do family, work, or other activities hold the same personal identification status for you as they did for your parents or grandparents?

Additionally, in your paper discuss any differences that you notice.

·  Did your parents or grandparents experience different conflict or strain than you?

·  Discuss any differences that you notice.

·  What future statuses do you expect for your life?

How the companies’ EOC policies and practices create advantages or disadvantages for their sustainability and growth?

Employer of Choice (EOC)

After reading both of the weekly readings Employer of choice: the new corporate imperative and The Employer of Choice, identify two companies to compare and contrast in terms of EOC.  The companies should be similar in size based on annual revenue or number employees, but do not have to be competitors or in the same industry.  Also, address the questions below in your paper.

  • How the companies’ EOC policies and practices create advantages or disadvantages for their sustainability and growth?
  • What could the companies learn from each other?
  • Which company would you find more attractive as a potential employee?  Why?

The requirements below must be met for your paper to be accepted and graded:

  • Write between 750 – 1,250 words (approximately 3 – 5 pages) using Microsoft Word in APA style, see example below.
  • Use font size 12 and 1” margins.
  • Include cover page and reference page.
  • At least 80% of your paper must be original content/writing.
  • No more than 20% of your content/information may come from references.
  • Use at least three references from outside the course material, one reference must be from EBSCOhost. Text book, lectures, and other materials in the course may be used, but are not counted toward the three reference requirement.
  • Cite all reference material (data, dates, graphs, quotes, paraphrased words, values, etc.) in the paper and list on a reference page in APA style.

References must come from sources such as, scholarly journals found in EBSCOhost, CNN, online newspapers such as, The Wall Street Journal, government websites, etc. Sources such as, Wikis, Yahoo Answers, eHow, blogs, etc. are not acceptable for academic writing.

Job Search

A well-developed resume remains an essential element of successfully obtaining a job.  

This is a multi-part assignment.

Part 1: Conduct resarch and write a 1 page paper. Instructions include:

  • Online Job Search – Conduct an online job search and identify a position you might be interested in applying for.  
  • In your paper, discuss your online search and how you went about finding the position.
  • Also, describe the job and how your background matches the requirements of the position. (Minimum length of 1 page).

[Notes:  If you’re in the military and have no plans of discharging in the near future, focus on a civilian job that you would like to transition into following your military career.  If your circumstances do not allow you to work, consider volunteer activities within your community that you would like to be a part of.]

Part 2:  Develop and write a 1-2 page resume.

  • Write a 1-2 page resume, designed to compete for the position you researched and chose in Part 1 of this assignment. 
  • Your finished product (research and resume) should be a total of 2-3 pages in length.

Include a title sheet.
