Social Studies Mini-Lesson Plan

Part 1: Mini-Lesson Plan

Prior to going into your clinical field experience classroom this week, use the data received from the pre-assessment to complete the Social Studies Mini-Lesson Plan template. This mini-lesson plan will be administered to the selected group of students to support instruction to meet the selected standards. The Social Studies Mini-Lesson Plan includes:

  • Social Studies standard, arts standard, and grade level
  • Learning objective(s)
  • Instructional Strategy
  • 100-150 word description of a learning activity that successfully integrates social studies and the arts
  • Formative assessment

Part 2: Mini-Lesson Implementation

After completing the Social Studies Mini-Lesson Plan, share it with your mentor teacher for feedback. Provided permission, teach the mini-lesson plan to the small group of selected students. During your lesson, ensure you are answering questions from your students, asking questions that support critical thinking and problem-solving, and observing to see if each student understands the content (this might require formative assessments before, during, and after the lesson to determine understanding).

Part 3: Reflection

In 250-500 words, reflect on the process of using pre-assessment data to develop a lesson plan, and on your experiences teaching the lesson (if applicable).

Include:

  • How you used the data to develop the instruction, selected strategies, and differentiation strategies to meet learning needs.
  • Other accommodations that would have supported the learning.
  • How integrating other content areas might engage students.
  • How this lesson could support short-term and long-term instructional planning.
  • How you will use your findings in your future professional practice.

Submit your reflection and Social Studies Mini-Lesson Plan as one deliverable.

APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.

Document the locations and hours you spend in the field on your Clinical Field Experience Verification Form.

Submit the Clinical Field Experience Verification Form to LoudCloud in the last topic. Directions for submitting can be found on the College of Education site in the Student Success Center.

400 Word Public Health Secondary Data Discussion (Categorical Variables)

Due 1/8  8 p.m EST

Be on time, Original work

400 words not including title & ref page min 3 APA

You may use several types of variables during your statistical analysis. Some of those variables can only be collected as categorical variables, such as gender and race, as they require fixed responses. Others, however, can be collected as either continuous or categorical variables based on the researchers preferences. For example, one researcher may record age as a continuous variable in years or months, whereas another may record age as categorical variables such as <40, 4065, >65. Age categories can vary from one study to another. Depending on the researchers preference, you have to decide either in the data collection stage or during the analysis how age should be used.

For this weeks Discussion, select two categorical variables from the data sets to answer the Discussion questions. Consider why the researchers may have chosen to make them categorical variables and decide if you would have made the same classification.

Post a brief description of the two categorical variables you selected from the database. Then, explain why you believe the variables were created as categorical variables instead of continuous variables. Finally, explain if you believe this is a correct classification for this study and why. Support your response with  current literature.

Sampling Structures

Probability and nonprobability are the two general categories of sampling. Probability sampling uses random selection, whereas nonprobability sampling does not. For example, if you wanted to study the effects of divorce on the psychological development of adolescents, you could gather a population of a certain number of adolescents whose parents were divorced. Then, out of that population, you could randomly select 25 of those people. If you wanted to use nonprobability sampling, you would choose specific people who had met predetermined criteria. For this Discussion, consider how samples would be chosen for both probability and nonprobability sampling structures.

Post your explanation of the following:

  • Using your research problem and the refined question you developed in Week 4, develop two sampling structures: probability and nonprobability.
  • Explain who would be included in each sample and how each sample would be selected.
  • Be specific about the sampling structures you chose, evaluating both strengths and limitations of each.

Health Policies, Politics And Perspectives.

Quality, cost, and access are three pillars of the U.S. health system. Select three other attributes of our system and relate them to these three pillars. You may use the attributes provided by Shi and Singh for your selection options.

– For this discussion, you must refer to at least one article from a reputable newspaper (can be online) or other media source that is current (from the last month) and post the resource in APA format.

– You must have at least two references in your initial post and the media source can be one of the two.

– Summarize your post in 500 to 750 words.
