Role of corporate Governance in optimizing workforce productivity Question 1: Workforce productivity Workforce productivity can be referred as the individual or collective performance of human elements working within a particular work environment. Workers in a particular work environment can be engaged individually in an operation or can be engaged in a team work. However, in both the context, the amount of performance contributes to the overall production of the workforce. The performance of the entire workforce is generally conveyed as the workforce productivity. Question 2: How are you going to measure it? The measurement of workforce productivity can be done comparing previous and current scenario incorporating a particular workforce. The workforce performance of the chosen organisation previously (monitoring past 5 years) can be tracked and the present performance level can be assessed in order to determine possible increase or dip in output from the workforce. The leap in output would mean greater workforce productivity while decline in the trend would suggest the workforce productivity has been lowered compared to the previous standard. Question 3: What is the meaning of Corporate Governance and workforce productivity? What is the link between Corporate Governance and workforce productivity? Corporate governance promotes a systematic approach of a business organisation for smooth running of the business. Following a range of regulations the top management of business organisations try conducting responsible business and at the same time maintaining the social, legal and environmental standard. It is believed that the performance of workforce can be influenced following appropriate top management initiatives. Top management staffs can regulate propositions such as employee participation in management decision making, both-way communication process within workforce and democratic style leadership in managing the workforce. Adapting such governing policies, better employee relation can be expected giving rise to better workforce productivity. Question 4: Level of employees Since corporate governance is concerned with the organisational stakeholders, crucial information can be gathered from the stakeholders so that the impact of the corporate governance policies can be judged. However, the study would focus on the internal stakeholders only as the organisational employees would likely to provide relevant information regarding the workforce productivity. The base level staffs can be engaged in a survey questionnaire process and quantitative data would be collected accordingly. The responses of the employees would help in judging the efficacy of the corporate governance policies of the respective organisation. Qualitative data would be collected from some of the managers of the organisation by conducting interview sessions. This type of data would help in analysing the merits and demerits of the adopted policies and the strategic possibilities that can help boosting the workforce possibilities.
