Each person is required to provide a minimum of two scholarly posts to graded discussion forums. While each post is worth up to two points individually, I will take your two highest scores for your final score. Your final score will be graded on a 0 to 4 scale. In order to earn the higher score you must meet all of the criteria. If you do not meet all the required criteria then you will be given the score in which all the criteria is met. Posts must include in-text APA citations to support your discussions.
Note: comments like, “I agree with you” or “That’s a good idea” does not reflect critical thought and are not scholarly. By providing critical thought you will prevent your grade from being reduced.
A score of 4 is the highest score you can achieve. To earn 4 points both of your posts must integrate other meaningful scholarly material (cited appropriately) and will facilitate further discussion. Your posts are well written and demonstrate concepts learned with applications and examples. Overall pattern of posts exhibits that student’s optimal engagement with the discussion board throughout the week. A score of 3 is better than average work. At least one of the posts integrates other meaningful scholarly material (cited appropriately) and facilitates further discussion. Posts are well written and demonstrate concepts learned with applications and examples. Both posts also facilitate further discussion. Overall pattern of posts exhibits student is actively engaged in the discussions. A score of 2 is average work that reviews the concepts and your interpretations and does little if anything to further the dialogue in either post. Scholarly work is integrated into both postings and APA is appropriately applied. Pattern of posts do not exhibit active engagement. A score of 1 means that only one post was made or that one or both post(s) were below average. A score of 0 –

Select a diagnostic or procedural topic relevant to patient care that would be suitable for a quality assessment and improvement project.

The student will identify a clinical quality topic, develop criteria, data collection tool, make up data, perform data analysis and report their findings.Select a diagnostic or procedural topic relevant to patient care that would be suitable for a quality assessment and improvement project. See attachment for more details.

Quality Project Assignment

Select a diagnostic or procedural topic relevant to patient care that would be suitable for a quality assessment and improvement project.

  1. Define the purpose or focus of the assessment process. (Ask: What are we trying to accomplish?)
  2. Identify/develop at least four key indicators or parameters (performance measures) for the selected topic that provide data to support the purpose or focus of the assessment process. (Ask: What will tell us that a change is an improvement?) Use resources on this topic to help decide which indicators to use. Indicators may include, but are not limited to:
  • Admission criteria/suggested population
  • Continued-stay review criteria
  • History of illness
  • Lab values
  • Symptomatology/indications for the disease or procedure
  • Vital signs
  • Medications
  • Ongoing monitoring
  • Length of stay
  • Type of treatment
  • Complications/management of care
  • Comorbidities
  • Management (for example, of therapy or education)
  • Discharge planning
  • Status
  1. Develop a data collection tool that incorporates the four indicators you developed in step 2. This tool might be a spreadsheet, database, or table.
  2. Determine the appropriate source for data collection on your topic (ie, patient chart, infection control data, lab data, etc). Make up data for the data collection for a minimum of 10 patients.
  3. Use the data collection tools to summarize data and create a data summary sheet.
  4. Use an analysis tool such as a fishbone diagram or run chart to analyze the data collected.
  5. Identify the team of healthcare professionals who would work on this assessment. Include healthcare professionals from a variety of support areas who could add input and contribute to the process as well as benefit from the results.
  6. Write a narrative summary of the study findings. The narrative should discuss the purpose of the assessment study, the data analysis, and the changes that would result in an improvement.
  7. Find an article that addresses your topic and use it as a resource to determine whether your study reflected data collected in actual studies. Attach a copy of the article to the summary.
  8. Identify and summarize all resources used to complete the project in a bibliography using the APA format. Submit the bibliography with the narrative and article. A minimum of three resources should be used. They may include personal contact with a health professional who could assist in defining the assessment process. Other resources could include manuals of indicators, articles, practice guidelines, tools, or graphic resources.

Your assignment is to select a person or character that suffers from a psychological disorder from the news, a movie, television series, song, book, or any other popular media source.

Use the first few paragraphs of your report to introduce and describe the disorder you will discuss.  You should include:
~
a)    a description of the primary population affected by this disorder (gender, age, etc.),
b)    a description of the primary symptoms experienced by people who are diagnosed with this disorder,
c)     a description of factors contributing to this disorder (i.e., genetic predisposition, stressors, etc.), and
d)     a description of successful treatment of this disorder (therapy, medication, etc.).
~
Then introduce the person or character you wish to discuss and illustrate clearly with behavioral examples, why you feel this character suffers from the psychological disorder described.  Your description should map very closely onto the description of the disorder at the start of your paper.
~
Submit a 2-4 page, double-spaced, typed paper of your “disorder report”.  (Be sure to include a title page which should include your/my name, date, and the course name. If possible, pls. include  a picture of the character selected.  These pages are not part of the 2-4 pages required for this report.)
