Discuss possible safety concerns if any associated with the selected commodity

TOPICS
selection: Choose one of the three commodities below on which to create the written assignment and infographic.
Title: A closer look at a food commodity: Nutritional, health (positive and negative) and safety aspects (food borne illnesses associated with the commodity or chemical risks)
Criteria and requirements: You need to select one commodity group from the below three commodity groups to work on the assignment

Nuts (peanut and tree-nuts)
In this assignment topic, you need to focus on one of the commodities

Discuss the nutritional contribution (from the composition of the commodity) and health promoting characteristics /attributes of the commodity. Also consider any negative health aspects of the selected commodity.
(As an example, if we consider cereals, dietary fibre in cereals helps to reduce cardiovascular disease (positive aspect). Gluten intolerance is a negative health aspect).

Discuss possible safety concerns if any associated with the selected commodity (common biological and chemical risks
, food recalls/outbreaks associated with the commodity)

Highlight any development/innovation/current research on the selected commodity in relation to nutritional contribution, health outcomes or safety concern
.

Organise the assignment with subheadings and include the most relevant information relevant to the criteria

Use tables where possible to add details such as statistics, data, and summary information
.

Become familiar with infographics from dailyinfographic.com,

Register with the free Infographic creation platform Piktochart and practice using this tool. It takes concentrated periods over
several days or weeks to learn how to use Piktochart
.

Plan, design and create the infographic.

Use strategies to improve clarity, such as: blocks or areas that delineate each sub-topic, provide meaningful colour palettes that can be read easily

Edit the amount and type of information to make it easy to understand and persuasive. Too much text reduces clarity and understanding!
Also consider font type, font size, and hierarchy of font size.

Review the Piktochart and ask “Is it presenting the topic concept and is it saying what you actually want it to say
for the reader to clearly understand”
.
Pilot test your infographic to get feedback on how it is perceived, and refine if necessary.
Plan your assignment using a project management plan
Some of the tasks in your plan will include –

Analyze the main pros and cons in debates about the policy.

The U.S. government’s expansive role in public policy is caught in a swirl of conflicting cross-currents. On the one hand, popular expectations about government’s responsibility to solve problems often exceed the capacity of state and local authorities to respond effectively. On the other hand, policies developed at the national level may not sufficiently reflect the great diversity of interests across the U.S. to be effective at the local level. Moreover, the search for effective policy is further complicated by theoretical debates about the constitutional framework of federalism, e.g., what limits on national power can be derived from the 10th Amendment?

Select a policy issue that is in the middle of these cross-currents between national, state, and local authority. It must be a policy area other than education (the focus of Discussion One in Week Two). Some examples include: federal health care policy (e.g., “Obamacare”, Medicaid – not Medicare); federal transportation policy (e.g., federal transportation subsidies); federal highway policy (e.g., federal rules about the minimum drinking age, speed limits, or safety); federal urban planning and renewal policy; federal poverty, welfare and unemployment policies; national security policies that intersect/conflict with local police power; and federal disaster planning and relief. These are only examples. The policy area that you select must have a significant “federalism” component that requires national, state, and local interaction. It should also involve issues with a strong potential for tension or conflict among different levels of government.

Research and write an essay on a specific policy in the area that you select. (Note: The word “policy” is used interchangeably with the word “program.”) Your essay must:
1. Clearly identify and focus on a specific federal policy or program (the policy mustraises issues of “federalism” because it requires national, state and local interaction and invites tension across different levels of government).
2. Summarize the elements of the policy, including the problem it is supposed to solve or improve.
3. Briefly summarize the history of the policy.
4. Explain how the policy raises issues of “federalism”
5. Analyze the main pros and cons in debates about the policy.
6. Evaluate the pros and cons from two perspectives:
o The policy’s effectiveness. (Justify your assessment by clearly explaining your definition of “effectiveness” and how it should be measured or determined.)
o The policy’s consistency with the constitutional framework of federalism. (Justify your assessment by clearly explaining your interpretation of American federalism’s constitutional framework and why the federal policy is or is not consistent with it.)

Discuss in detail what actions you would take as you proceed through the steps of your chosen ethical decision-making model, each of the steps should take at least a paragraph (or more) to address.

In the digital age, where technology is more of a requirement than an option, counselors are often faced with the challenge of knowing how to effectively manage boundaries. The following case study will help students understand real-life challenges that counselors often face regarding boundaries and technologies.
Case Study:
Latisha is a 32-year-old African American doctoral student in a small, rural university. As part of her doctoral studies, she serves as a supervisor for students doing their master’s in counseling internship. One of her supervisees, Emma, is working with adolescent girls during her internship and has been assigned four clients she sees twice a week. Latisha is Facebook friends with several classmates and former supervisees but has avoided friending current supervisees, explaining this policy in her professional disclosure statement.
One weekend, she notices a Facebook exchange between a classmate and Emma whose page is public and visible. Latisha views Emma’s Facebook page where she discovers Emma has friended the mother of a client and the two have discussed the client through various posts. Emma’s client Jenn is a 15-year-old female who is the subject of a bitter custody dispute. Latisha is aware that Jenn has a 19-year-old African American boyfriend, and the two are sexually active, which conflicts with the mother’s fundamental Christian values. Latisha now realizes the mother is a member of her own church.
The next day, while attending church, Latisha is approached by the mother who states that she knows Latisha is Emma’s internship supervisor and proceeds to lay out the details of her pending divorce and custody issues. The parent mentions she intends to subpoena Emma and her records as part of the divorce litigation and wants her to testify to Jenn’s placement and well-being.
Tasks:
Using an ethical decision-making model, outline your response to this situation. Outline the proposed action(s) you would take in this case, providing justification for the proposed action(s) and a description of the decision-making model used to arrive at that decision. Your decision-making model should be one that has been discussed in the professional literature, and after explaining the model, you will need to offer a rationale regarding why you chose to apply that particular model to the case study. Remember:
• You should be sure to cite appropriate literature and must give proper credit to authors of any decision-making models used to analyze the case.
• Do not simply list the steps of the model; apply the steps and be sure to document and defend your courses of action and your final decision.
• Cite all appropriate professional standards and relevant laws. Regardless of the model chosen, you need to clearly identify, describe, and evaluate what ethical codes and laws were violated. Be specific—use mental health statutes and specific ethical codes that apply.
Discuss in detail what actions you would take as you proceed through the steps of your chosen ethical decision-making model, each of the steps should take at least a paragraph (or more) to address. You may (and are encouraged to) respond in an outline form (i.e., develop a response to each ethical decision-making step); however, do not simply list the steps of the model but integrate them into a complete answer.

How might you apply the principles of this theory when providing new information to a diverse group of individuals?

Information on how we learn can be applied to areas such as in health, leadership, business, employee training, and the family. It can also help you to assist people to understand the needs of others’ more successfully and create more successful learning, organizational, and personal environments. In this discussion, you will demonstrate your understanding of schema theory and scaffolding by sharing about your educational background and the ways you have been taught new knowledge in the past.

• First, evaluate schema theory and its potential application to learning psychology.
• Second, compare one method of learning you have experienced that did not align with anything you knew or believed to a method that built on your existing schema (scaffolding).
• Third, thinking critically about the inherent differences in the outcomes in these two situations, what differences were there for you in the level of difficulty of remembering the material?
• Fourth, analyze and comment on how this learning theory applied to these two real-life situations.
o What other differences you can think of?
o How might you apply the principles of this theory when providing new information to a diverse group of individuals?
