discuss how that music may have been influenced by another culture or cultures

As we study the music of other cultures, we begin to hear the influence of those cultures on the music we listen to every day in our own culture. Please read this article and then tell us all about a song or type of music you listen to, and discuss how that music may have been influenced by another culture or cultures. Feel free to do a little research around the web
Remember, you must answer the original prompt, and then post at least 2 responses to other posts, for a minimum of three total posts.

first discussion to reply:
The music I listen to is definitely influenced by other cultures. I especially like Lindsey Stirling’s music, which is classical violin, hip hop and dubstep merged together. The Violin which is most prominent in western classical traditions to non-western cultures, Indian and Iranian music. Hip-Hop was from the African American culture of rapping and beatboxing. The dubstep a genre of Electronic music which originated in South London, yet traced all the way back to Reggae and Old School Jungle.

second discussion to reply:
I’ve been really into indie folk stuff recently, such as Bon Iver. Obviously there is a stem from folk music and that has roots in Europe and Africa. Bon Iver’s stuff has a really electronic vibe to it too. The notes are often long and drawn out like folk music but then overlaid with distortion and synthesizers. Electronic music has roots all over the world but becomes its own thing depending on the area it began and the influences around it. At this point in time, I feel like there are some definite roots to certain music but we’re essentially a melting pot now.

Order Details/Description

• 2015 TRIMESTER 1 HLTH423 / part1
Assignment 1
Length: 2000 words
Weight: 40%
Learning outcomes:
This assessment task covers learning outcomes 2 and 3:
• Apply the principle of evidence-based practice to actual and simulated case studies;
• Plan brief interventions that take account of the physical, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual needs of people with mental health issues and their carers;
• Describe the theoretical underpinnings and practice of psycho-education, motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy(CBT), relaxation strategies, interpersonal therapy and narrative therapy
Task
1. Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy and Crisis Intervention describe four approaches to working with people suffering from mental health issues. Summarise these approaches in terms of:
(a) The underlying theories and important concepts related to the approach
(b) The therapeutic aims
(c) The role of the practitioner and the consumer in the therapeutic process.
(600 words, 30 marks)
2. Paul is a 22 year old, unemployed man from a Jewish background. He did well at school but has not been employed since. He lives with his mother, father and young sister in the suburbs. He studied IT at TAFE for one year but dropped out. He has recently been diagnosed with depression by his GP. He has difficulty sleeping, has lost five kilograms in the last ten weeks, feels tired all the time, and doesn’t leave his bedroom much. He doesn’t drink but he is a regular marijuana user. He has become isolated and spends a lot of his time playing computer games. He had a relationship with a girlfriend at school but has not been in a serious relationship for the last three years. He wants to become a creative writer, but finds it too hard to sit and write. He has a poor relationship with his mother who complains that he doesn’t do enough to help at home. His father is a professional musician and is disappointed that his son can’t find work. He is happy to attend counselling as he wants to feel better and doesn’t want to take anti-depressant medication. Choose two of these approaches and, for each approach, describe briefly how you would work with this consumer to create positive change for the consumer. Compare the effectiveness of each approach for working with depression, referring to the evidence-based literature to support your argument. Attach a research-based article (that you refer to in your answer) that demonstrates the efficacy of one approach for this mental health issue. Support your discussion with research-based articles wherever possible.
(1000 words, 50 marks)
3. Provide two brief examples of psycho-educational resources (no more than two pages each) that you would use with this consumer (or their carer) to educate them about two of the following in relation to their depression: their physical, psychological, social, cultural or spiritual wellbeing. Attach these examples to your assignment (and reference their source). Explain your rationale for choosing each resource and critically analyse their effectiveness, using references.
(400 words; 20 marks)
This is an academic essay and you are expected to use references throughout. You may use the first person when answering parts 2 and 3, but you still need to use references correctly in this part.
Note that students in the School of Health are required to follow the APA referencing style when presenting written work.

Does the current model/approach need to be adapted to better meet the cultural needs of client system? If so how?

ASSIGNNIENT 1: Critical assessment of clinical practice:  (Paper is due on 3/ 8/2015) but please send sooner in case it needs revision.

Students will write an 8 page APA style paper using material from course readings (see down below for book that needs to be utilized), lectures, and appropriate outside materials to critically assess their clinical practice with individuals” groups” or families.  Students will write critically assess their own clinical practice with a client with attention to the following issues:

(1) What are my agency’s mission, function and organizational goals? What models or theoretical frameworks are espoused by my agency?

(2) Identity a specific client system (individual. group or family) and describe the model/theoretical frame work that was used to guide practice. In the case I want to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

(3) Based on what criteria was this model selected for used with this client system (discuss “FIT” between characteristics of client system and model components/tenets).

(4) Describe any prevention interventions that have been helpful in enhancing the client’s capacity

(5) Describe current stage of clinical work with this client (e.g. beginning work, have had 3 sessions or middle phase of work, have had multiple sessions) and discuss the primary aims of intervention at this phase within the context of the model/framework being used.

(6) Evaluate a practice recording with this client to assess the extent to which the skills being used in the session can be specifically linked back to this model. (In this case you will be incorporating within the paper a practice recording between you (worker & the Client) so you will record a word for word conversation of important things you and this client spoke about) There must be at least 8-10 exchange (back and forth) between you and this client.

Example of the format to be written in the paper:

  1. So you mentioned that you and your father do not get along, how does this make you feel?
  2. It makes me feel unwanted, as if I am not important

Also:

  1. Label specific skills
  2. Evaluate client responses
  3. Evaluate student responses in terms of (level of empathy, fit within given model, appropriateness to situation, what student could/should have done differently).

****Most important part of the paper: Must be done per the professor request*****

(7) Assess and reflect upon practice with this client system and determine current practice needs moving forward.

  1. To what extent does actual practice correspond to the tenets of the ascribed model?
  2. Describe considerations for ending with this client or transitioning client to another worker/service.
  3. Are there any changes that need to be made in order to better meet the specific needs of the client system and improve practice?
  4. Is this model of intervention still determined to be appropriate? If not, what model might be a better fit?
  5. What training needs (formal or informal) would facilitate practice?
  • Does the current model/approach need to be adapted to better meet the cultural needs of client system? If so how?
  1. Does student need to utilize supervision more differently in order to improve practice?
  2. Other changes necessary at this stage of practice?

Contextualize the character’s experience within relevant macro and micro systems, within the sociopolitical climate of the time, and societal issues such as racism, sexism, class, heterosexism, cisnormativity.

Watch the film “Gun Hill Road” (available on Netflix) and write a comprehensive
biopsychosocial about Michael. This will include a diagnostic assessment for Michael, so your
analysis of the information you’re presenting should be present throughout, as should a
demonstrated understanding and a critical analysis of the diagnostic criteria. Your
biopsychosocial assessment should include the following:
!
I. Identifying data (age, race, gender, sexual orientation, employment, housing, school, etc.),
family background and developmental history, social environment, legal issues, substance use
history, medical history, psychiatric/mental health history, any relevant diagnoses for Michael.
!
II. Remember that many diagnoses are the subject of controversy; we have reviewed multiple
perspectives concerning the origins and treatment of diagnoses related to trans people. Address
this from your own perspective, and make a case for your diagnosis (or for not diagnosing, if you
choose to do so). Potential diagnoses should be considered from all categories of the DSM-5,
not just related to gender and sexuality.
!
III. Contextualize the character’s experience within relevant macro and micro systems, within the
sociopolitical climate of the time, and societal issues such as racism, sexism, class, heterosexism,
cisnormativity.
!
IV. Conclude with a brief treatment recommendation. What kinds of services do you think
Michael would benefit from, therapeutically or otherwise? If you were providing therapy for
Michael, what do you think would be the appropriate modality and/or focus for treatment?

Use the following references and more but these should guide you
