Explain the selected theories, and then evaluate GEH’s reasoning.

Markets in developed economies are approaching saturation level. Therefore, MNCs are searching for new untapped markets in emerging countries such as India and China. Since the healthcare industry will continue to grow in the future due to the size of the global population and its age composition, General Electric Healthcare (GEH) is trying to capitalize on these trends. It is expanding its operations and development of new drugs and manufacturing of the medical equipment in India and China.
Directions

Read the following articles:
• At least one peer-reviewed article related to the trade theories in general as well as for China and India
• Articles related to the human resource management for MNCs, cross-cultural management, expatriate training, and expatriates’ success/failure in overseas assignments
• Articles related to GEH
Then, respond to the following:
1. Select two trade theories that best explain why GEH expanded its operations of developing new drugs to India, and manufacturing X-ray business to China.
2. Explain the selected theories, and then evaluate GEH’s reasoning.

Interview three people (one from work/school, a close friend, and a family member). Ask them to list three strengths and three weaknesses that you have. Summarize your findings and describe if you agree or not and explain why.

Personality Assignment
This is an introspective assignment. You should do some deep thinking here and express your thoughts and feelings through writing responses to these questions. This should be a 2-3 page paper, double spaced, 12 pt font, and one inch margins. If you use any sources besides your book, you will need to cite them. Points will be deducted if the paper isn’t well edited and has spelling and grammatical errors.

1    Take three personality assessments. Take the Big Five, the grit assessment, and the Brief Strength Finder (found on the Positive Psychology Center Web-cite). Summarize what you scored on each assessment and note if you agree with each assessment or not (explain why).

2    Interview three people (one from work/school, a close friend, and a family member). Ask them to list three strengths and three weaknesses that you have. Summarize your findings and describe if you agree or not and explain why.

3    Now describe three goals you want to have accomplished by the time of your 75th birthday party. Who do you want to be as a person and a community member, what kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? After answering these questions, write your personal vision statement about who you are. Write it like you are already that person so that you can grow into this statement. Mine is: I am a loving wife and mother, independent and resourceful, and a dedicated educator who values lifelong learning, healthy living, and adventure.

4    Look over everything you wrote above and describe what you learned about yourself. What will you do to become your best self? What will you do to grow into the person you want to become?
